Sorry, I always celebrate milestones...
Anyway, I thought I'd kick off my new lease on life by asking people's opinion on something that I have seen debated by other DE players before, but want to ask the decadents here.
Under the circumstances, would you rather have on your models T.Racks or Hell Masks? I ask because on one day I wish I had taken Trophy Racks on my HQ, but another Hell Masks. On my Sybarites the same situation.
How do you set up your leaders, and I am not just talking about HQs? I refer to Succubi, with Sybarites AND HQs. You may not take these items, but if you were forced to, and there was absolutely no way to escape the Maze of Tzeentch without answering what you would take?
Light a fire for a man, and he will be warm for a night. Light a man on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life.
I'd take trophy racks over hell masks any day. Trophy racks have a clearly defined mechanism in fifth edition, whereas hell masks are largely redundant. Archons, Succubi and Sybarites are all considered upgrade characters when in their respective squads/retinues so cannot have attacks allocated to them in the way independant characters can. I'm not entirely sure how hell masks would affect close combat resolution vs upgrade characters so I left em well alone.
So in short, Trophy racks on all Succubi, Sybarites and Lords if I had the points to spare.
That said and I've only just noticed it (learning!), hell masks could be useful when worn by Haemonculae (sp), who are always classed as independant characters, or potentially on a Lord if his retinue gets wasted and he's still standing and not fleeing for his life.

Win 2. Draw 1. Losses 11.
I'm still learning. :)
Trophy racks without a second thought. Our leadership is one of our biggest weaknesses IMO, improving that improves the army as a whole.
Everything I have told you, even this, is a lie.
2 words, Trophy Racks always. OK, that was 3 but you get my drift.
HQ's, even haemonculi get them especially if I have them leading a squad of grotesques - for the most part it will get activated because killing in close combat is our bread and butter. If you fail as many morale checks as I have then the extra point you gain is worth it, leadership 10 on our leaders? Yes please!
As for the masks, I always seem to forget I have them so I will only say that they do not seem to be as productive as trophy racks. Same goes for the mask of the darned - I put them on Haemonculi as a back up device but I am yet to get it to work just once.
Has anyone tried any of the masks? Did they work?

I am going to refer to the FAQ about non-independent characters and the lack of function with the Hell Mask.
If granted to an IC the enemy has to pass a Ld test to hit in close combat and even then a roll to hit of a 6 will still win through all of this.
Its not as viable as a permanent Ld gain that you can get from a Trophy Rack by first winning a combat.
And I agree Kwi, all masks do seem to me to be the forgotten item in our armoury, they are difficult to model and ‘add’ complexity to the game.
“Oh, by the way, you need a Ld test for your attack to succeed,” is easily unthought-of of in the heat of a game.
In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
