Hey, just wondering how you guys would go about making a list that can take on all comers that won't get squashed by a terminator heavy list. Obviously the best way to tackle termies is to load up on starcannons and banshees, but In a tournament setting that isn't the best course of action since you'd get demolished by hoardes. Any suggestions?
Terminators will be at a huge numbers disadvantage. Focus fire with what you have, and keep them tangled up. Seer councils should be able to resist them for a while. Anti-amour stuff'll be able to mince anything that doesn't have storm shields, which should be a decent amount of the army.
Harlequins could be an interesting addition. They're quite flexible. Playtest them first, though. I'm not sure how well they'd take on Termies.
fire prisms ^_^
take three if you can and doom, large blast wounding on 2's making them take 5+ save also this has re rolls to hit and wound....snap.
or just drop small blasts.
fire prisms are good in all situations

I've had very good results with harlies there is almost nothing they can't win against on the charge. Keeping them alive and getting the charge are a much different story but once they hit home they are deadly. Cost is another problem with harlies. Otherwise just shoot them, 3 warwalkers with scatterlasers guided will kill 2.5 roughly (my mathammer skills aren't very good so might be off) two rounds on average means a dead squad. If your mech just run away from them until you can jump units with massed fire. Fire dragons hammer termies they land a fair number of shots that will force 5+ saves.
My answer to termies is usually either a well timed Bladestorm (when I'm out of charge range, just in case) or my Pathfinders shooting them every chance they get. I havn't used my Harlies lately, but I remember them working quite well. The problem is that you need to outnumber them, quite a bit, or else they spam you when they strike back.
Generaly, in a balanced list, I stay out of their way (not a problem if you're Eldar, you're much faster than them) and wear them down whenever I can. Focus more on the weaker units - anything without support is half as good as it should be. I tend to find support wherever I can - blasting them at range with my Grav-Tanks, charging in with Banshees and Doom. Eldrad Ultrhan + Fortune works really well on Termies. I've even sent Guardians and Scorpians into them in the past, but only when there's 2 or less termies left. But other than that, I ignore them. Firing sperodically at them, taking opertune shots if they present themselves.
I'll focus more on command squads, veterans, tacticals and vehicles than termies. The real hard-hitters, the units that combine the ability to use a transport vehicle and hard-hitting prowess. Bikes and assaulty veterans are one's to look out for, too.
But, you asked for anti-termy stuff. So, I would use the following -
1- Bait them in with a unit of banshees. 5+Exarch, the +2S sword thing and counter charge, so you get those lovely extra attacks =). Doom wherever possible.
2- Fire Dragons. Six of them, if you have points left over take a extra one, or an exarch with a firepike if you have no spare dragon models. These guys are terminator nightmares. And you can blammo their stupid Land Raider, too!
If your oponent finds himself suddenly with only a handfull of termies left, he'll soon start using them wrong.
Then it's a case of pushing it home =)

There are two kinds of terminators, Thunderhammer + Stormshields, and everything else (as long as you're not fighting DH, you might as well surrender, muahahaha). Against Thunderhammer storm shields your best chance it to move the guardians against them, they get less attacks than claws, and the same in CC as the ranged ones, but without shooting to soften you up.
The reason to do that is they will probably cost more than your guardian squad, and you can tar pit them for a bit, and if you're not penetrating their armor the shields mean nothing so some scorpions can work in a pinch.TH+SS suck against hordes. In the end, keep them away from anything juicy.
Against other kinds of terminators like the PF + storm bolters (and whatever heavy weapon), and the claws. These terminators you should hit with your low ap weapons, and banshees.
So there you have some TACTICS that an all comers list can use to swat those pesky termies when they show up, and you don't even have to tailor your list, because most lists have Banshees, some guardians, and low ap weapons (for tanks duh). Plus every army SHOULD have scorpians, they're so damn cool!
to deal whit termies, simply take a squad of walkers and put a star cannon+scatter laser combo. works fine for me.
if this is an all comers list wouldn't you have an answer to terminators. if you don't youdon't have an all comers list. So he would need to add stuff to deal with terminators.
i would actually deck out my walkers when meeting orks, 'nids and guardsmen, maybe because the guards i meet use light tanks, i can take them down whit both lasers and cannons, but i would use something more "anti-tank" stuff, against tanks.
