Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm relativly new to 40k and ad placed a multi tracker on the shoulder of my crisis suit tam leader but failed to realize that he may take a HW multi tracker is it ok to leave it there or is it nessecary to take it off?
also for twin linked weapons i assume it nessecary to place 2 of that weapon on the suit?
thanks in advance
The multitracker piece is not necessary if the MT is hard-wired, but it looks good and it also helps you to remember that the model does have an MT in whatever guise. As for the weapons: yes, you need to model two of them on the suit. Two reasons for this: 1) the weapon is twin-linked and therefore requires two of them to be modelled, and 2) each weapon takes up a hard point so you should show this too. The more important one is #1 though.
Have a look at the grey box on P.47 BRB. That will give you a bit of an idea about "What You See Is What You Get", or WYSIWYG as it's better known.
"Tau Commandment #226: Participants who use Velocity Trackers in the Tau Clay Pigeon Tournament will be disqualified"
There is a nice middle ground with crisis, which I think is always representing 3/4 bits of gear (be they weapons or systems) regardless of whether subsystems are hardwired or not. Crisis look a little bland otherwise (IMO) and I think that bulking them out a little, and even adding the TA representation/multitrack representation to the weapons, can add a little something to them odel as a whole.
Gunshy, I highly recommend magnetizing any suit or vehicle that you ever intend to switch out gear on. It's honestly not as hard as you might think. Amazing Magnets has a great price on 1/16" neodymium bar magnets. There's a guide right here on Librarium that tells you precisely how to do it. (I promise it's easy... especially if you have a Dremel tool and a steady hand.)
Kardea, can you link to the LO Magnetization guide? I want to do that for my battlesuits at least (even my XV88's change to plasma config on occasion), and I can't find the how-to. I do NOT want to risk massively ruining models with my very ameturish conversion skills, so I'd rather go by the guide.
I fight for the Greater Good. Too bad for you it's MY Greater Good.
Snow Forces of T'olku W/L/D : 3-4-2... I like to think I'm learning, though.
