I was thinking about krootox the other day, I don't know if anyone else remembers them? They're one of the most useless models in the tau army. I'm looking for ways to make them more effective and it occurred to me that if you upped their points by say 10, to 60 and made them monstrous creatures in close combat, they might see some use in a battle.
Any thoughts on this proposed house rule?
they'd be good against guardsmen, but I suppose thats about it
Aren't they good enough, other than they cost to much already?
Play a kroot mercenary army and field a whole lot of them!!

I WAS IN THE IMPERIAL (Norwegian) GUARD!
Ahhhh the krootox is a beautiful model but way to exspensive unless your playing kroot mercenaries. They have to be tagged to a unit because they are way to vulnerable by themselves especially with being wiped out by str 6 shots or higher. And since their are better things to take with the HS slot choice I doubt there is anything really effective to use them for except for pulling a plow.

OK so they are a bit naff at shooting and over priced but you have to respect their close cobat value. Don't shoot with them, charge them in!!!!
I read that GW does not want to make any monsterous creatures for Kroot because they don't want their army to be just like everybody else...they don't wanna plug up weaknesses for armies. I guess it's true but I would love to have some huge scary creature that ignores armor saves...grrrrr! I want to get Krootox because they have 3 attacks...a high strength...and a relatively high toughness (sort of like 3 wounds for any weapon under strength six and one wound for anything higher...so it's not that bad right?) and they are pretty cheap...in points and on the wallet...well compared to broadsides. Kroot guns...they are ok...(stares at nice, shiny, big, powerful rail gun). I think they are worth their points...usually anything as long as you know how to use it...right?
