I have a broadside battlesuit, twin railgun and twin plasma rifle (glued on, so no changes available) what would be appropriate wargear for one of these suits? A couple of gun drones would keep him alive longer but are pricey, he can be instant killed right? It makes him a hard choice to use as he could die to a missile launcher shot.
Move forward and stay quiet brothers.
Check out my half finished blog here.
Plasma itself tends to be a waste of points. If you're in Rapid-Fire range, you're going to die next turn. If you're not, the railgun is just plain better. Only exception to this would be team leaders who take a Hard-Wired Multi-Tracker with it, though even then you're using up a ton of points for little gain.
The default configuration for an XV88 battlesuit around here is just to add an Advanced Stabilization System and be done with it. If you're really concerned about the safety of a squadron, make one a Team leader and hand him a HWDC and 2 Shield Drones.
I fight for the Greater Good. Too bad for you it's MY Greater Good.
Snow Forces of T'olku W/L/D : 3-4-2... I like to think I'm learning, though.
Team Leader with Targeting Array, Hard-wired Multi-tracker, Hard-Wired Drone controller and 2 shield drones. A full squad of these guys (the other two with TL Plasmas and Multi-trackers) will devastate any small unit within plasma range. However, outside of this configuration it's recommended that you do not take plasma rifles, take a team leader with either TA or ASS and hard-wired target lock and hard-wired drone controller with 2 shield drones, and 1-2 more broadsides with either TA or ASS as per your personal preference. This allows you to focus on their anti-tank role, which is points efficient, and shield drones save you from instant-death. So, typically, you will see broadsides in this configuration:
1 Broadside +Team Leader +Hard-Wired Target-Lock +Hard-Wired Drone Controller +2 Shield Drones +(TA/ASS)
1-2 Broadsides +(TA/ASS)
My gaming group's new motto: That army you're using is overpowered because it hurts my guys, codex is broken and needs a rewrite.
Railguns have a decent choice between a semi powerful blast attack or a single shot attack that whatever it hits without a good cover or invul save, it pretty much destroys.
If a Million Guardsmen die, that's a statistic. If one marine dies, that's a tragedy.
A little light reading may be in order Hashulaman.
You might want to look up Pg#30 in the codex...(middle column, bottom paragraph, last sentence.)
I personally like the TA a little better than the ASS, but that's just the way I play.
I like to cow my opponent into LoS of the rails.
I can also use them to herd enemies towards other units like Stealthsuits(18 shots) or Fire Warriors(12-24 shots).
My platform is RL, you'd be surprised at the quality of the graphics!
