Welcome to Librarium Online!
I was wondering if anyone out there had a creative solution to dealing with lictors and flank marching genestealers (other than staying away from empty area terrain and the edge of the board). Obviously if they don't manage to assault you the turn they arrive they're done, but how do you prevent this (I pack dakka and not cc, so these guys can really lay the smack down on my tanks, pathfinders, and even avengers). Thanks!
Hmm... tough call... I don't fight tyranids much but here are my suggestions. Bring a close combat squad that can handle the abuse they can dish out by either ripping it apart before it can touch them or withstand the initial assault. Alternatively you could try giving your avenger squads the shimmershield and forutning them. Past that I dunno, best of luck though.

yeah, tyranids have been the toughest army i have played against for those reasons. ummm. in the end mobility (non jetbike) and lots of firepower have been the most effective. so, fire prizm/war walkers with scatter lasers/bladestorm/banshees for cc. beyond that, i don't know. thats a tough list to play against cuz its soooooo fast with the 12" assault 6 " move and 1-6" shooting phase move (claw something or other..)
War is my master; Death my mistress.
Play mechanised army. I do I never found Tyranids a real threat.
And, if I'm not mistaken, Genestealers can't do any harm to Wraithlords.
Genestealers have rending so they can drop wraithlords without much of a problem.
IIRC normal genestealers can't get outflank, only if they have a broodlord, which makes the squad insane in combat. Your best bet would probably be to seperate your squads so that they can only charge one at a time and then realize you're going to loose that squad and lay down the dakka next turn.
Everything I have told you, even this, is a lie.
If you are facing outflanking Genestealers, my suggestions are to either stay clear of the board edges (and we are talking 14+ inches), or to refuse flank keeping a throw away squad farther out than any other.
Staying clear of the board edges can be difficult, especially with flanking jetbikes or lang-range guns like Reapers and War Walkers. For this tactic, it best to keep your tough units around your guns to protect them.
A refused flank can work be cause it means you've got a 1/3 chance of those stealers coming in wrong. By keeping a small ranger squad or guardian squad there, you lose less and will have a chance to react once they come one. At this point a Wraithlord with two flamers can mince the stealers. Or a JB Warlock with Destructor. Or a squad of DA's. heck anything really. Just kill with impunity.
As for Lictors, they really aren't that scary. Just about any unit of ours can take a lone Lictor in CC. And is better this way than wasting shooting power on a single model with a 2+ cover save. Trust me, I've taken out lictors with remnant Jetbike squads (2+Warlock) in CC many times. They are not front line units. Just something to try and sew confusion among your ranks. Kill it quick or just ignore it.

i play 'nids (and eldar ofcourse!) so the best tip by me is that unless your meeting a genestealer/lictor list, you can always sort those guys out whit a guardian squad whit shurican/flamers or some DA's just run the guardians in 10 man squads, to keep the cost low. also, the stealers are not able to charge directly when they move in through outflank, and you then should have some time to either get closer to flame those bastards or move away to unleash a cloud of doom this could be easy unless the stealers save has been upgraded. to 4+, instead of 5+.
for the lictor i'd say the you could handle it with guardians as well, prefferably storm guardians, since flamers ignore cover(?) and you could always love those 3 attacks on charge. the lictor could'nt possibly kill more then 3, so it'd be fine.
ShadowcatX: stealers can buy the scout ability, so they can outflank even whitout a broodlord.
