Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't have the codex handy, but guardians have a 5+ normal armor save correct? A warlock attached to a squad of guardians using conceal, grants his unit a 5+ cover save, right? If I have the numbers right, what possible benefit is conceal? Aren't both saves the same, or am I missing something?
cover saves can be taken against weapons which ignore armour saves I think
I'm Useless :D
Ok, so the only benefit is if the squad gets shot at by an armor ignoring weapon? That doesn't seem like much of a benefit for lowly guardians. Besides, who would be shooting at them with something big like that? I mean other than a flamer, which ignores cover saves too??? I'm just not seeing the benefit, especially from a fluff point of view.
Thanks for the quick reply though.
Considering the bolter, the standard gun of the game, ignores a guardian's armor save along with many other weapons, it's kind of handy. I personally don't think it's worth the points anymore considering the surplus of 4+ cover saves across the board but it's not a bad ability.
Well, that makes more sense then if bolters and many other standard weapons ignore eldar "armor". Which makes me wonder, what is guardian armor made out of? Cardboard?

Meet My Autarch
yes it's not as good now that there are 4+ cover saves going left right and center, but it's really more of a storm guardian power than anything else. embolden seems to be better for guardians nowadays. Although I still use conceal in my jetbike army, I don't get anywhere near as much 4+ cover as other armies, and combined with fortune it makes the unit near invincible, so it still has uses. although if you want your guardians to have unrestricted fire arcs than they usually have to move into the open, that's where conceal comes in handy, just not as handy as embolden.
Fortes Fortuna Adiuvat
Is it even worth taking?
For me especially my guardians are not in the front line they are mainly for their weapon platform and hold objectives that would be in middle range (far ones would proabaly be hold by rangers)
I always try to put them out of LOS since i dont depend on their shooting.
Just to get conceal is 25 + 15 points is it even worth it?
I don't think so, partly because it's so easy to get a 4+ cover save from intervening terrain and models, and because for fewer points you can get embolden which helps keep them in the fight even with their low Ld.
