What would be the best way to go if I want to keep (at least some of) my units flexible (ie able to switch out arms/weapons etc)? Is it worthwhile to do something like with magnets or something or is glue pretty much the only option?
Rare Earth Magnets all the way. They come in all sizes, and are crazy cheap (and strong). You can do a google search and find a bunch that will ship to you in the US.
The 6mm x 1mm size fits a Carnifex/Tyrant arm/socket combo perfectly, other than that I'm not as sure.
Magents work great for warriors. I have all 9 of mine done.
I used K&J Magnetics - Products these and the work great. 100 for $7.
They also work on GS's. I have 8 that I can swap Scytals and regular arms.

I agree, rare earth magnets are the way. I think mine are 4x1mm, and they're perfect for carnies and tyrants, plus warriors and anything else. I was just trying to count them up earlier today, and I think I have 90-100 magnets sunk into TMC's, warriors, lictors (ease of storage), and a wide selection of biomorphs and weapons.
