Hi, as many people know, I have been planing my Tyrant for a while now. I have decided to make a thread about it, so that I can ask questions, and receive comments. The work will take a while, so please bear with me. I will have stage 1 (making...) complete in a few days, then have a big break while I finish other business and travel back to Norway. Then I will try to get the painting done ASAP... I will be pinning the wings, and magnetizing the arms. So all comments, advice, and constructive criticism welcome.
Progress report: I have received the wings in the post, getting Balrog wings, even though I ordered dragon wings and that works fine for me actually. I have glued the legs and tail together, and glued the main body together, drilled holes in the wings, as well as breaking the drill in the process of drilling holes in the Tyrant... so I need to go and buy some drill parts now
need to do: fill in the gaps with greenstuff, and use some green stuff on the wings.

The Balrog wings are much better than the dragon wings, they are more life-like by far. If you ever don't recieve what you paid for then you should ask for them to send you what you want. You did pay for it and they should hold up their end of the bargain even if the Balrog wings are much better.
I have found with the Hive tyrant filling in the gaps with green stuff is much easier before you glue the primary parts of the body together. Once the whole model is together I find getting at the cracks is much harder. The head can have it's gap where it joins to the body filled in best once the rest of the body minus the arms are stuck together.
Its looking good so far! I look forward to progress on this.
What could make the Green Stuff job easier is if you cut off the excess wing (spanning from the base of the arm to where it would attach on the Balrog's back). This makes it more workable.
Again, thankyou for the comments!
I only have 12 rare earth magnets, so I will be needing to buy more for the sything taylons when I will be magnitizing. My plan is to have the wings on the back, not in the arm sockets. I have brought another drill bit, so I can re-start drilling again. I will fill in the gaps today, and finish the drilling after tomorrow if everything goes to plan... I will also draw my plans for what to do with the green stuff (i.e, arm sockets and wings). I hope to get more pics up by after tomorrow latest. Just a reminder that I will be taking my time, as this will be the center piece of my army, and I want it to look that way
I don't use magnets myself but I imagine it would not be that hard to make your biomorphs work with either type of Hive tyrant set up. Toxin sacs are probably going to be on your Hive tyrant regardless of what weapons it takes so that could just go on the arms. Adrenal glands would be the hard one. I would suggest that you locate an area on the tail or somewhere else the adrenal gland could go. Dig a hole in this part of the tail. Put a magnet in and then cover it with green stuff. Shape the green stuff so that it will fit the adrenal gland. You will then, hopefully, be able to stick in on when you like.
Toxic miasma could be done by cutting off the tubes on it's back, perhaps just the first two. Make two sets of new vents by using either deathspitter gun barrels or either of the barbed strangler ones. Have one pair normal and the other with some gross greenish gunk coming out of it for the miasma. The replacement with the vents is the same as on this Carnifex of mine.buglands
Hope this helps out with your questions about doing your Hive tyrant with more flexible biomorphs and magnetising them. I'm not sure what you meant about pinning, do you how to pin or how helpful it might be in making your Hive tyrant more flexible.
Yeah, someone who also understands the power of Balrog Wings
Tyranids Win / Draw /Lost
Daemon Hunters Win / Draw / Lost
With your Tyrant, what I did is used a Gaunt adrenal gland (smaller so it fits much more flush with the carapace) to represent both Adrenals Glands or Enhanced Senses (since there are no clear guidlines on modelling them on a Tyrant). Either the gland itself or a bundle of senses acting as a carapace mounted targeting beacon. Both builds of Flyrant will usually take one or the other, so it works quite well.
sorry, I will be pinning the wings, and magnetizing the arms/weapons/whatever. Because my magnets are to big for the arm sockets, does anyone have an idea how to make the sockets larger? the only 2 I can think of is either adding green stuff onto the body, or getting a drill and making the hole bigger. Or I can make the magnets smaller ...
I would drill it a bit, thats what I had to do for mine. It works pretty well.
