Hello, this is my first post here so I'll introduce myself alittle first. I used to play 40k about 8 years ago, although I was more about collecting and painting than actually playing. With the recent release of 5th edition I've gotten right back into. Picked Orks, ran with it and havn't looked back.
I recently purchased a Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun model just because it seemed like so much fun. I've been running him with a squad of 7 Lootas in 500 point friendly home games.
It hasn't come up yet, but my question is, in the event that I get the result: "Zoink" (Where the Mek is treated as initiating an assault against his target), does the squad of Lootas follow the Mek? Or does the Mek break from the group and dive in head first alone? I assume it's the later but I wanted to be clear.
I've been reading this forum since 5th Edition and you guys are always very helpful, so thanks in advance!
the lootas follow him
when life gives you lemons.........LEMONS FOR THE LEMON GOD!!
I'd just move the Mek, it doesn't say to move any attached units with him.

I agree with ==Him==. Since the wording says that you "immediately place the Mek in base contact with the target," it would imply just that. Just the Mek, not the attached unit.
(WH40K) Dark Eldar - (12,000pts) Sisters of Battle - (5000pts) Dark Angels -(3500pts) (WHFB) Dark Elves - (10,000pts) Beastmen - (5000pts) Empire - (3000pts) Wood Elves - (1500pts)
I 3rd the motion that only the Mek goes and the Lootas stay behind.
The next question though is, what happens if you roll the dice for the Mek 1st and get the Zoink. Do the Lootas still get to finish their turn firing at the unit the Mek just Zoinked to? My thoughts are yes, as all shooting for a single unit happens at the same time. So I suppose you could roll for the Mek and if you Zoink, you 1st take shots with the Lootas before moving the Mek into base contact(?).

My award winning Orky tale
I like to shoot with the SAG first, more models means better chance to get more hits.
However I still think you'd get the loota's shots, all shooting is supposed to be done before any assaulting, right?
malbur is correct. Though it really doesn't matter if the Mek shoots first or not. All models in his unit will still get to make their attacks, even if he is catapulted into the enemy's face.
I've recently become a fan of this thing called Dubstep. And you should too.

Da Moo Kowz is da drinkinest Orks of dem all!
This came up the first time I ever used my mek... first turn aswell. And I just moved the Mek, the way the codex phrased it it didn't even occur to me that the loota's might have to move too. That could be the case, but I think just the mek is more likely, given how teleporting an entire squad would be a massive booboo from the meks point of view
