So, i've been debateing for afew weeks.. (okay, months, but whos counting here?) As to what unit i want to pick up. Obviously its going to be something from forgeworld, i just cant resist the beauitful units any more. But i find im being pulled towards either getting a Vampire Raider, Vampire Hunter, or titan. Or getting an avatar and one of the 'smaller' units like the void dragon pheonix, etc. But im having a hard time picking out which way to do. So id like to see what other eldar players would go for, and maybe why, or why not? Obviously being allowed to play it would be nice, though something like these, id be more then happy to just have on display.
Oh.. but i dont look so good with all those.. tentaclly things..
I feel fairly well qualified to answer this as I have: Revenant Titan, Cobra, Nightwing and Void Dragon Pheonix (and a FW Wave Serpent)
I would say you have to go for the Rev titan, you have to be comfortable with a fairly big modelling task, putting together Forgeworld kits is not like gluing guardians together (I don't mean to be patronising, I just don't know your experience level).
Aircraft are good becasue they are damn hard to shoot down without AA weapons so most of the time the enemy will ignore them. On the other hand I'm not convinced about the Vampires. Vampire Raider is a big expensive troop carrier - so what Eldar aren't already fast enough for you? Unless you are playing on a MASSIVE table. As for the Hunter, 730 points on a flying Scorpion tank made out of paper (armour 10 on all sides) Whilst your enemy might ignore a nightwing flying around he will not ignore a Hunter and considering it will take structural damage on a 4+ and a 4 and 6 will cause a chain reaction it's just two fragile for my money - Plus it can be shot down by a bolter. If I spend 730pts then I want something you need a cannon to destroy
Also you can buy a nightwing and 2 phoenixsfor the same cost and I reckon that is better value for money and for gaming points.

I got the Revenant, Scorpion and the Avatar in that order
I would also suggest the same order for anyone else. The Revenant is just a BEAUTIFUL model (though it does take some finesse and lots of pinning/ green stuff to get right.) The Scorpion is an easier model to assemble asn is also great fun on the table top. Lastly, the Avatar is just sick (that and the GW Avatar is LAME!)

Eldar: 25,000 pts
The only Eldar stuff I got from FW so far is a Wave Serpent conversion kit and some veichle upgrades.
But if I were to buy some more it would be either a Revenant or one of the smaller flyers, just for display.
