Hello, i was wondering if anyone could help me as i dont know much about 40k.
I bought my boyfriend some Eldar Grav Tanks for his birthday in a few weeks, but then found out he wanted the Fire Prism ones, i cant return them as i opened the box to see if it had the prism cannons inside as an extra !!! So does anyone know if i can get just the Prism Cannons seperately so he can convert the ones i have already bought him? Or could he make them out of that green stuff, or is that a bit ambitious?
I looked on the Games Workshop website but it made me want to punch the monitor through the wall as i dont know what to look for! I always get him the wrong model/figures and i really want to get it right this year!! So I would really appreciate any advice, thanks!
I'm not sure about being able to purchase the prism bits, but I imagine any "crystal" from the local hobby shop, from the nearest available chandelier (is that how it's spelt? I hope you get it) coupled with the pulse rifle that comes in the falcon box (if that's the one you got him, otherwise chop up the bright lance ^^) should make a decent and unique prism cannon =). Tell him to give it a try, It's probably not that hard! for the crooked laser thingie on the other side you could use (again) a pulse laser or bright lance and gently bend it into shape (look at pics of the fire prism for reference). Those things with some minor greenstuff work could probably work out to be one cool and unique Fire Prism! Hope that helped =)
You are specifically looking for the Prism Cannon bitz, which you won't find on the GW website anymore since they nerfed their bitz service. You might check BattleWagon Bitz and ApocabitzNow as they have a good bitz selection.
The Prism cannon itself is composed of seven metal parts. They are the right and left halves of the Prism itself, and the cannon body. This fits on where the Falcons pulse laser normally goes.
The two more of the bitz are the laser exciter and exciter body. They go on the side where the Falcons secondary armament would go.
The sixth bit is a tracking array that fits on the underside of the hull where the Falcon's antenna array would normally go.
The Fire Prism's seventh metal bit looks like a spirit stone of some sort, but that isn't a completely necessary piece to build a Fire Prism.
I just looked on Apocabitz now and they have all but the seventh bit available. Just go under Eldar->Heavy Support and you'll find them.
Arvan'drynn Craftworld - 15,000pts (deceased)
Tau - 2,000 points (atomized while on patrol)
There is little that you can really do. GW no longer sells individual bits and/or sprues and you wouldn't have necessarily been able to buy that piece in the first place. Battlewagon Bits has that piece in their catalog but they are out of stock and the 'bit' is $25. At that price you are better off buying him another tank and giving him two.
ooooo glad i can help with something for once, I was in a similar position i roll with 3 prisms but didnt want to pay 105 quid for them so bought a cloudstrike squadron yesterday and have carved some polystyrene eggs to be the correct size and shape which saved me £53 so u can try that they then slide onto the main cannon for a grav tank very easily BUT don't spray them paint them seperatly from the tank then add them on otherwise they'll melt
current armies Eldar 3k, SM 9k
and in the works, Eldar 2k, necron 2k, GK 2k
Thats a good idea, i can wrap up some polystyrene too!
Thanks to everyone for your advice, you've all been a great help.
