I just Bought a box of Kroot warriors, and a shaper
Any one have a good army list?
well good luck! tau is a great army and i wish you the best of luck, kroot are very good to put in front of your more inportant people like XV-8s or 88s fire warriors are also good to give cover fire as your XV-8s and stealths move in closer, and lastly make sure to use the XV-8s close combate skills and good weapons to go in close to enemies!
Damn straight homies! Of course tau kill SOB then they go on a pantie raid
thanx but im not playin tau, im playing a Kroot onyl army from the chapters approved list. Thanx anyway
Shaper, if your going for kroot only army, try and post in the general Army forum, that way people won't get confused as to what your doing...
Well, I'm currently working on my army list, and I'll post it just for you in the Army List section...
 icant find it...............
They are referring to the list down below in the section where you branch off to which army you want to talk about, however, I see no problem with you posting here for the time being. There is no kroot army forum as of yet, which is a shame, and as Tau is the closet thing you'll find, I dont see the problem posting here.
Now as far as a good list, with a shaper and a kroot squad box you actually can't do much. But thats not to discourage you. Looking at a kroot army, you are going to have a pretty troop heavy army, with no tanks, cost saver, but probably a lot of blisters (hounds, shapers, oxes <that one is an iffy one>).
Personally, if I were you I'd look into getting at least one more shaper, you will need that for an HQ. Each kroot squad requires a shaper, so you will need at least one extra one for your overall HQ.
But for an HQ, might I suggest a Kroot Master Shaper with either a Kroot Rifle if you intend to be more assaulty or a MeltaGun if you face tanks thats one of the only tank killers Kroot will have, and a power weapon. Give him a Kroothawk Totem and Mark of Favored child. Then I would use a Fast Reflexes adaptation. That should give you a modestly survivable tank killer or assault capable leader. I would personally suggest winged adaptation, but if you cant modify it Hyperactive Organs will do, but the wings will make you very fast.
For your troops, you'll have to go with a Full Kroot Carnivore squad. Again, I like the Fast reflexes, you get 4 In that way, which brings you on par with most armies, plus if one person has it, thats what the whole army must have anyways. A power weapon with melta bombs might be nice for the shaper.
Anyways, you'll need to buy at least two more shapers, 1 for your HQ, one for your other troop choice, and then another box of kroot carnivores. With that, I'd actually suggest buying another shaper, and splitting your Army between one HQ, two troops, and one hunter kindred. That upgrade will cost you 60 dollars, you've already spent 40, so I bet it will take a while. But for a hundred dollars your fielding a five hundred point force, with leftovers, which isnt that bad, its pretty much on par with other armies in costs.
thanx im soo going to give my SHaper Master a melta, i need a tank hunter. As for wings, im using a battle suit with a kroot head (hope that counts as wings, they got jetpacks dont they?)
Uhm, a battlesuit for a shaper, that is definately a new one on me. I'd suggest just saying it has wings before using a battlesuit. To your question, wings function exactly as a Tau Crisis Suit would function for purposes of movement. However, I'm really gonna suggest against that conversion. See what you can scrounge, I myself am using an old plastic toy's wings on my Kroot Shaper. Its gonna be nice and brutal. Whenever infiltrate rules are in effect my Kroot army is going to be on top of the enemy real fast. Of course, when infiltrate rules are not in effect, we're sorta in trouble
But anyhow, have fun.
