Welcome to Librarium Online!
im looking at starting an eldar army after i finish my current tau army. im not looking for any contrasting or new types of armies-just a different one. ive looked at the codex and craftworld codex. biel-tann, iyanden, and ulthwe all appeal to me and i cant choose which to go with, or to go generic. my question is can i create my own craftworld, and choose any of the "craftworld" lists to form my army, depending on how i want to play? i know this can be done with marines, as they have their succesor chapters and such, but would this be a feasible idea for eldar?
yea, i've heard of people doing that with eldar. i used to play eldar but i never did that. i just used ulthwe rules but came up with my own color sceme and fluff and that stuff. i wouldn't exactly call that a successor though.
If your jsut starting I would go with Ulthwe, they're very similar to the basic list, but get a load of advantages and only one or two minor disadvantages.
You cannot win, for to fight us is to give us power.
Yes, it is common and it is a good idea, it allows you to chop and change craftworlds, eitehr because you are not sure which one you want to use or because you want to chop and change without having to repaint all your stuff (particulaly guardians and wave serpents). Do it
Everything you have been told is a lie!
well the 3 u choose...
iyanden is the most expensive ($$ and hardest to win with.
beil tan is also very expensive but very fun to play, if played corectly
ulthwe is hard to play with, since u ahve a lack of specialized troops, somethign to the eldar NEED.
i dont think ulthwe is easy to play. i think its quite hard to play. yu may have sheer numbers, but they arent specilized to do anything. orks have numbers but are designed for combat.
id say buy some models. like a box of guardians, maybe some warp spiders ( i LOVE warp spiders) or banshees, (or any kind of aspect warrior) rangers, and a farsser. play some games, unpainted, so u can play and see wat units u like. like rangers? play alaitoic. like guardians and casting powers...go for ulthwe.
if nothing fits u...make up your own craftworld and some cool fluff and have a ball.
oh and if u liek to shoot (as u said u played tau) alatoic (of however its spelled  ) is the shootiest eldar army, and can rival that of taus fire output.
