Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ok I have a Question about the Zap gun, if you have it on your BW does it fire at BS 2, or BS 3? I thought it auto hit as well, but I can't find anything that says it does, so I guess I awnsered that one huh lol. I'm a little confused any help would be greatly appreciated.
Quantity is a quality all on its own, WWWWAAAAAGGGGHHHH!!!!
"Zap gun don't roll to hit"
It's in the rule book were they show all orks stats. Page 108 (I'm looking at the black reach rulebook)
Some people were confused because in the 40k 5th edition rulebook they list them as auto-hitting, but they don't.
It all depends on who's firing them. If they're on a vehicle, then it's BS 2, because that's the BS of the Ork drivers. If it's in a big gunz unit, then it's with BS 3, because that's the BS of a grott.
The 40k 5th edition rulebook also states that the codexes supersede any of the stats or abilities listed there. I'm not sure why there are differences (meganobz have 3 wounds too), but it does not change the Ork rules. The codex takes precedent.

dont have my book but from what i can remember a battle wagon has a bs on its profile so thats what you would have to use when fireing it. i also believe that when you purchase a biggun for a BW it says crew not included, so that furthers my argument of a bs of 2.
and i also have not seen in the new update that the zzap guns still gets auto hits. you have to roll, so you are probably better off with a kannon
I take it back that zap gun auto hit. I missed that the codex takes precendence.
The battlewagon part about "does not come with crew" is clarified with the FAQ. It means that it does not come with a gretchin crew and thus is a vehicle weapon and uses the vehicle's BS. Better wording should have been "a vehicle mounted and controlled" zzap gun.
I also found there are several issues with the sample appendix in the back of the book and highly recommend avoiding it in favor of the codexs and FAQs.

Follow up question:
Say you have a battlewagon with a Zzap gun, and you roll above a 10, does anything happen to the vehicle (or it's occupants)?
Whoops, nevermind, it's right there in the FAQ. Nothing bad happens. Incidentally, they are also never considered defensive weapons.
