Welcome to Librarium Online!
As the title realy. Just started colecting an Ork army, and I have zero clue on how to base them. My usual sand, paint, flock method just wouldnt work for them.
Any advice? Piccys help too
Well, after I have carefully painted my miniatures, I'm just too lazy/impatient for a careful basing job. I just paint them with Yanden Dark Sun and then glue sand from the pet store to them - ét voilà - my Pokefarm Warioz are ready. They are Bad Moons getting filthy rich from running hydrofarms in the desert, so my yellow paint and the my fluff make up the simple bases.
My Blood Angels have sand bases as well and I have fun imagining they get out of their boxes at night to fight over a patch of desert while I'm asleep.

I just do some normal sand and a tiny bit of grass to patch it up. I mostly just do a miniscule amount of grass to not make them stand out too much in grassy landscapes.

While nice, for over 120 models in my 2K list thats gunna get expensive
I have moulded my own.
Cover base with a light coat of Elmer's Glue
+ Dip base into sand
+ Let Dry
+ Prime Black
+ Paint a dark brown
+ Dry brush sand with a light brown
+ Apply a brown wash
= Orks in the mud
Very inexpensive and very quick to do. I'll try and get some pics up for you.

I do a chemical waste or forgeworld looking base for my orks. I just make some look like they are walking on asphalt and other through ash/soot/etc. Rather simple, just black base coat and various layers of gray dry brush.
