Welcome to Librarium Online!
My flatmate plays Tau and has a couple squads of fire warriors who frequently use Markerlights. The question I have about them is if the Friewarrior Squad uses the Markerlight, can the rest of the squad immediately use it up to increase the BS against the same target in the same shooting phase? I haven't studied the entry about Markerlights in deep detail but we have wondered about it. It's probably obvious from the entry but the wording seems a bit awkward and doesn't seem to clearly specify either way.
Anyone with more experience with the Tau be able to answer this for me?
Edit - I just noticed next to the longer Markerlight entry that Networked Markerlights do what I was asking about. And it doesn't look like the Firewarriors get Networked Markerlights, just ordinary oes. Is that right?

A Fire Warrior Shas'ui's ordinary upgrade Markerlight cannot benefit the rest of his squad in any way. However, should the same Shas'ui take a Drone Controller and a Marker Drone or two, then the MLs from *these* Markerlights can be used by his own squad to boost their BS, as Marker Drone MLs are Networked.
Hope that helps.

Good stuff, thanks for the info.Following on from this my next question is as follows - How many hard-wired systems can the leader of the Fire Warriors have? it says he has access to the wargear and that he can spend at max 100 points yeah? Does that mean he could take everything in the armoury if he wanted to? I know it says he can only have one of everything but that doesn't seem to mean that he can't just take everything (points permitting)
The very maximum to take on a FW Ui is HW Target lock, HW Drone controller, Marker Drone, Markerlight and Bonding Knife. As a general rule I would stick with the team leader upgrade and simply take a HW Drone controller, BK and HW target lock and that is it (anything else is a waste of points).
Non Drone Marker lights are expensive, you have to pay for the Ui upgrade, Marker-light and Target lock to get any use out if it yet it does not allow the Ui's own team to benefit. A Marker Drone costs 40pts (Drone and team leader upgrade) compared to 25 for the ML, Ui upgrade and TL, 15pts extra is worth the benefit of usage by the owners unit (that is if you ever think it is worth taking ML's on FW's which it isn't, especially in 5th where mobile Troops are so needed for game winning).
Oh and the Multi is not a legal choice for a Fire Warrior because it is only available to models that can fire 'Battlesuit' weapons systems and Fire Warriors ain't wearing Battle-suits.
A unit cannot gain benefit from its own markerlight hit, as all shooting from a squad is assumed to occur at the same time. Hence, a Fire Warrior team leader with a markerlight cannot let the team that he is in benefit from his markerlight, as the occur at the same time.
Network markerlights are assumed to fire just before the owning unit fires any other weaponry, and as such the owning unit may expend markerlight tokens produced by its own Networked Markerlight.
The maximum that a Fire Warrior team leader could take would be: Bonding Knife, EMP Grenades, Blacksun filter, multi-tracker, target lock and two drones of his choice. As Rikimaru mentioned, the Honour blade is exclusive to the Ethereal. A model may take any amount of hard-wired wargear, battlesuit or otherwise, points limit providing. It's impossible to spend 100 points on wargear as an infantry model, however a battlesuit can spend up to 138 points on wargear. Typically it is not a good idea to max out as such. Vehicles may take each upgrade once (Seeker missiles twice) with no points restrictions.
Any other questions we can help you out with? I hope he hasn't been using his Fire Warrior team leaders' markerlight to mark for said team leader's own unit...
My gaming group's new motto: That army you're using is overpowered because it hurts my guys, codex is broken and needs a rewrite.
Riki points out that:
The multitacker is described in the Battlesuit section and not the infantry section. The thing that gives it away at first glance is the wording "it enables the model to fire two battlesuit weapon systems the same turn."
However, It is listed as a 5 point cost to place it on an infantry as a hard wired version. One could concievably argure that GW should have never put it in the infantry section in the first place. (Target lock is not described in the infantry section either.) or GW messed up and forgot to write it in the infantry section.
Finaly hardwire systems are described as infantry being allowed to use battlesuit support systems that are normaly mounted on a battlesuit. I think that one could argue the wording "it enables the model to fire two battlesuit weapon systems the same turn." should now read "it enables the model to fire two infantry weapon systems the same turn.
In reality it should have read "it enables the model to fire two weapon systems the same turn."
I personaly don't use it, but wouldn't have a problem with it if someone else did.

ya GW is lazy and didnt want to rewrite those wargear in infantry section. leave to GW eh
However if, shoulda, coulda does not really help here. The only description we have for the Multi tracker says it is used to fire two battle-suit weapon systems and FW do not use those, so sorry but the Multi has no use on a FW. It is a pretty shoddy oversight by GW, even if you take into consideration the fact that it says the infantry wargear is there to allow wargear usually mounted on battle-suits, it goes on to say that you need to check out the Battle-suit section of the armoury for each systems rules; which means that you have to apply those rules. So basically you can pay the points for a Multi which you can never use because FW only have Pulse rilfes/Carbines or Marker lights as weapons.
