I have a problem I have a wraithlord in my army but before he gets to kill anyone he always dies.

Take a cheap Wraithlord with no upgrades and let your enemy waste their time trying to kill him while the rest of your army - which now can take more upgrades because of the points - goes unscathed.
You may want to provide an explanation as to -how- your Wraithlord keeps dying, however.
He keeps an dieing to imperial guard krak missile.

Is the terrain set up fairly evenly or do you end up playing on an open field?
If the terrain is set up across the board, make use of it, deny your opponent the benefit of having a nice meaty target out in the open.
Though, may I suggest that your opponent concentrating on your wraithlords is a good thing? If he's having so much trouble with the wraithlord, what is he ignoring in your army that could cost him the battle?
By the way, about how many missile launcher shots does it take to bring him down?
It takes three turns with three shots each turn with one wond a turn.

I'd say he's getting lucky. He should only be getting 1 wound out of every four shots, so averaging only 2.5 in those 3 turns.
If it's IG, set up the Wraithlord with 2 flamers, and a sword. Then use RUN to get him across the board faster.
If he gets across, then they'll dogpile him, taking out any chance of more krak missiles hurting him. If not, they're still spending a TON of effort to take him out. Use that to your advantage.
And they WILL spend a ton of effort to take him out if you have 2 flamers and they're imperial guard...
Poor SM players, used to S4 T4 3+ saves that forget 40K is a sophisticated Rock-Paper-Scissors game and all they have is a pocket full of rocks.
I'd have to agree with Zora on this one.
Assuming he's getting clear shots, he still needs to roll to hit, and then 4+ to wound.
And then he has to do it 3 times.
If he's running up the board at the biggest baddest thing he can find your opponent isn't gonna get 3 turns worth of shots off before he's ripping open tanks and feasting on the sweetmeats therein!
alternatively, give your opponent another krak missile target to shoot at, such as a fire prism. it's an ugly choice you make him make, as either one could destroy big chunks of his army. war walkers might be an even better option for backing a wraithlord since you could add a bunch of anti-mob or anti- tank guns while giving him 3 (albeit easy) targets instead of one. and they still hit at strength five in melee, making them a laugh against guard. oh yeah. and they'll go first against regualr guardsmen (who probably won't hurt them) they're also as little as 40 points apiece if you just rack up a pile of shuriken cannons on them, making an anti- infantry squadron 120 points for 9 shuricannon shots. alternatively you can pay the big bucks, go 210 points and get scatter lasers and get 12 shots a turn at a slight reduction in ap. either way, you can mop the floor with guardsmen. as a side note, these guys can penetrate guard tanks in melee now. go figure.
If you are having trouble keeping the wraithlords alive you may want to add more big things. I run a wraithlord occasionally but when he's the only high armor/toughness target, your enemy has an easy time deciding what to hit. I run a lot of skimmers with my wraithlord but I make sure the skimmers are more of an immediate threat. They have things inside, move faster, and all have brightlances. This leaves the big guy to leisurely walk up the field andpick off all the high value targets while my troops in serpents mop up the infantry.

Meet My Autarch
I might be wrong jetice, but you kinda sound like me when I first starting playing a year ago. You have all these REALLY AWESOME eldar units, and it really sucks when they die before they get any good use. I tried strategies to keep them ALL alive, and realized that didn't work so well. I ended up coming to the realization that some of my army is going to die, every game, and all my units are awesome... so while it sucks to lose some, it really is a trade-off... if they kill my wraithlord... then my shining spears are still around to do their job (etc.).
