Hey, just trying to figure out a scheme for my Necron army and have two possibilities going here! Let me know what you think!
P.S. This is the first time I've uploaded pics on this, so hope it works...
I like the red more with the gold, but that'd have to include his cape as well. Otherwise go blue. (That said, maybe a darker blue? Regal blue?)
Yeah, definitely needs cleaning up, this is just an initial coat to kind of get the feel for what he'd look like.
And sorry 'bout the posting, I'm kinda new to this haha (always an excellent excuse!).
I was thinking about doing the cloak gore red highlighted with blood red and prehaps some golden yellow to bring out the edges for a more Roman feel...which would look pretty awesome, but I'm aiming for a more ancient Egyptian look. I like the idea about a darker blue though...
Thanks for the imput!
Try one of the washes on the cloak. Use Scab Red (or Merchite Red ) base and Devlan Mud to make a dulled Red color, or try Leviathan Purple wash on the blue you're using now to get a darker blue. (You could even use Gryphonne Sepia for an even darker color - don't go as dark as Badab Black though.)
Of course, all of this will result in darker colors, but I find it works well on Necrons. Again though, experimentation. If you're going for the kind of bright colorset that Tomb Kings use in Fantasy, you won't want to do this.
I'm with SMann here. I much prefer the red, but you'd have to lose most (if not all) the rest of the blue to really make it work.
The dulled red with yellower highlights would definitely work if you're going for egyptian. Also a lot of gold embellishment and Lapez Lazuli (very dark blue) gems/stones.
Otherwise, go for the blue. To be honest they're both pretty nice jobs.
Here's the scheme I decided to go with. Obviously needs some cleaning up, but you get the basic idea.
I'm thinking about doing the chest piece lapis lazuli on the finished product to get some contrast with the shoulder plates. Let me know what you think!
I like that alot. Kind of matches my Thousand Sons unit
Definetely egyptian looking. I might as well say don't do too many hundred coats of paint on that dude, you'll end up obscuring the details. Keep the battered/old look on the gold armour plating as well, that goes well with the image. Also, for the chest plate, maybe reverse the gold and blue parts? Just a hunch that it'd look better.
How much are you painting like that out of interest?
Dream-Thief: I've got about 1750 pnts of necrons / the rest of my orks to finish painting, if that's what you're asking? And before I start anew, I take off most of what I'm painting over with some nail polish remover...works wonders haha.
Alzer: Yeah, the stripes do look kinda messy. I'm probably just gonna make a template and paint between the lines for the end product to get the crisp look for the lines. Just recently put some design work on my ghazzy...all checks and markings are freehand...though the pic is kinda poor quality and you're allowed to be a bit sloppy with orks .
