Should I use warp spiders in my army to place beside my vyper to hit the left side of my opponents left flank or should I use a different elite?

Warpies aren't elite, but fast attack.
This said, they work perfectly as flanking harassers: their potential 24" move (30" if they run) and high strenght weapons give them the ability to hurt nearly everything and I guess they'll fare much better than a vyper.

The answer to any Eldar army question is "more Scatter Lasers, more EMLs and more Warpspiders" (in my rather tongue in cheek opinion).
I love spiders and think that they are without question the best and most versatile unit we have. I think that they are over looked as the models aren't great (other than the exarch).
So in answer to your question. Yes, get some and then get some more.

These are a fantastic unit. A small batch as a sacrificial harassment unit is ok or you can give them more bodies and give them an exarch and attach an autarch to the squad. The autarch keeps the squad safer in combat, can take out big tanks, and has so many awesome conversion opportunities. If you want to add warp spiders, just figure out what you need them to do and equip them according to that. Then post your final list so we can give you ways to fine tune it.

Meet My Autarch
There are only a couple units in the Eldar army I swear by, Farseers, Dire Avengers, and Warp Spiders. I take a squad of 8 with an Exarch upgrade and dual spinners. 18 Str 6 shots are nothing to be scoffed at and can be used to great effect. The most important thing to remember, is that they alone, like most Eldar units, will not finish the job. They need to be supported by another unit which can wipe up the rest of the squad's few remaining stragglers. Their mobility combined with high firepower makes them a great choice in a hybrid (mech and footslog) list as a link between the ground troops and the tanks. I use Warp Spiders in anything from 500pts on up.
Doomseer with spear
2x 10 Dire Avengers
7 Warp Spiders with Exarch and Dual Spinners
TOTAL 494 pts

Just Echoing what has already been said, Spiders deliver high volumes of fire wherever they are needed most paired with the ability to get out of charge range once their done. While I wouldn't send them after a tank unless it was the last thing stranding they will put significant hurt on any infantry unit due to the high number of high strength shots.
Even my regular power armoured opponents have come to fear a sudden Warp Spider strike and I look forward to unleashing them on one of their new Ork horde armies as light infanty will be punished horrendously as they try to cross the board if the Spiders are allowed to more freely.
You are even free to attack those normally basic weapon resistant units like bikes as the high strength will still cause them significant headache, enhanced toughness or no paired with the speed to meet their foe head on.
Frankly I see them as one of the finest units in the Eldar codex.
"ask not the Eldar a question, for he will give you three answers, all of which are true and terrifying to know"
Warp spiders are what i based my army on, to me eldar is harrasement, controlling the battlefield and making the enemy react to you. Warp spiders perform all these functions to perfection.
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
