Hey guys, I'm normally an IG player but I've lately gotten really bored playing static gunlines so i've got it in my head to start collecting some Eldar.
I really really like the idea of playing an all eldar force, but I play normally 1500 pt games with friends and I just don't think it's feasible to run a jetbike army at that point level and remain competitive. What do you guys think?
My main opponents are orcs, tau, tyranids and chaos.
Jet bike or Saim hann style armies are generally not considered to be the strongest army eldar can field (most would say that title goes to mech ). But they can be competitive and alot of fun. If you are running tourny style lists with your friends you might be a bit disappointed with its performance but against normal lists it will do well.
At 1500 the army can work well. A decent sized flying council, a couple of jetbike units, some spears or vypers, and a couple of fire prisms all can fit into that point range. Going down to 1k can start to put a crimp on the army as you run out of points before you have a little of everthing in the list.

A pure jetbike army is somewhat limited. An army that "never touches the ground" however is perfectly reasonable. I would say you should get the jetbikes as troops, have a few shining spears in your fast attack along with a squad or two of vipers, and get fire prisms or falcons to fill out your heavies. Your HQ is entirely up to you with the choice between a farseer on a jetbike, maybe with a council, or an autarch on a bike with a laser lance to go with your spears. Given the right setup you might be able to pull off a very impressive floating army.
If all you're looking for is a less static gunline feeling then there are multiple ways to achieve this. don't want to overload you with too many ideas just yet so I'll stop there. If you want to move the thread in that direction then I'll be glad to help.

Meet My Autarch
I use jetbike armies to great effect. I use a Farseer, usually with a 6 Warlock seer council, two 7-8 bike units, a couple vypers with starcannons, and fill the remaining points with whatever I think might be useful.
I would check out YouTube - WayOfSaimHann's Channel his videos really helped me grasp how to run jetbikes effectively before I had my army finished.
Farseer and warlocks on jetbike
Autarch on jetbike
Jetbike Squadron x3
Dire Avengers in wave serpent x2 (ok...they don't start touching the ground
Swooping Hawks (they are all based to be flying)
Vibro-cannon battery (the crew are mounted on the platform)
depending on points load out, I might take banshees in a serpent, load fire dragons in a falcon, or replace a falcon with a fire prism.
Nothing touches the ground.
it's a variation of my 'speed is life' force in which everything in the army must be able to move 12" or more (capability of those speeds only with a good fleet roll is acceptable in this build).
