Welcome to Librarium Online!
I can't paint my Eldar Guardians the way I want to. Does anyone have any tips?
You should be more precise cause "the way I want to" doesn't say much.
You can also check the Painting section of the forum.
I'll paint them the way I want, then that'll be the way you want.
I notice with eldar that they have alot of open space to their models. Not very complex, but smooth and elegant. You want to layer your coats to get a nice smooth finish and water down your coats. That works well.
So true about the watering down paints thing. I've painted 20 Dire Avengers with about 12 colors each, it took me between 90 to 120 minutes PER model. They look really good, but I didn't water my paints down so they aren't perfect smooth which means I wish they were even better than they are but I don't have the patience to apply even more time to 20 of the same rank and file troopers.
Oh, ANother thing that might be useful. I wish i wouldnt have put my dire avengers together with both arms on. It makes painting their chests very difficult. Try it with one arm on, and leave the other one off, as long as you pair them up right, you should have no problem making it fit right. Just food for thought.
I find the hardest part for me is highlighting the smaller armour plates often found on Eldar chest plates. Even with the smallest detail brush it looks like I stabbed paint onto them.
The trick for getting the "ab" plates, is all in the pressure applied, and the amount of paint, too much paint and no matter what you do, you'll blob it on.
umm you could try the gw article that actually lets you paint a guardian online it'll give you an idea of the colours you need and what looks good (aussie site still has it last i checked)
Believe in me, even if we are torn apart our feelings will unite us that is what this post is all about.
