Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have about 80 bugs in my 1850 point army, but it also features 4 TMC. That isn't unsporting, is it? Should I up the number of bugs, down the number of TMC, or what? I've posted a couple of variant lists in the army lists section, the first of which has some snippets about my very first game from the other night. How many bugs are there usually in your 1000, 1500, and 1850 point armies? I know styles of play vary, but I just want a general feel for it. I imagine I might want to have 80-100 models in an 1850 point list, 75-90 in a 1500 point list, and 60-75 in a 1000 point game, but I'm just guessing.

Seems about right IMOI imagine I might want to have 80-100 models in an 1850 point list, 75-90 in a 1500 point list, and 60-75 in a 1000 point gameI dont think that its unsporting, infact if my opponent has any army list that follows the codex, BB rules and points value agreed then I'm happy! I'm not a great believe of cheese and beardyness (as long as the army is legal). I myself use around 80 models in a 1500 point list with about 2-3 TMCs.I have about 80 bugs in my 1850 point army, but it also features 4 TMC. That isn't unsporting, is it? Should I up the number of bugs, down the number of TMC, or what
To boost your number you could change boosted up gaunts to simpler spinegaunts etc but it really depends on your opponents army.
(I havent had a chance to look at your army list yet but I'll post up there soon!

My 1500 pt list has 100 bugs on the nose ATM. I think that 1850 pts is right about when 4 TMC's becomes alright. I usually think that 2 TMC's is good though for 1500 pts.
for me quantity is the key, i use about 100 bugs in 1700pt and 1500pt games and a little less in 1000pt games.
"I have seen you humans, trying to forge an Empire in the name of a corpse"
I usually have over 200 bugs in play, but most of my battle with nids are played at more than 2000pts, so we field lots of units,
In such game I often have 5 TMC and gaunts, lot of gaunts,
at least more gaunst than he want's to see
Depends on who I am about to fight, but I have a TMC for every 500pts. I normally play 1500, which means 3 TMCs. I also try to field as many models as possible, not paying attention to the exact numbers.
yeah as cybugger said, and i think Uzi stated a while back a TMC for every 500 pts is about right for a balanced army.cause that ratio will give you enough points to spend on little nids to swarm with and give you enough big hitting TMC so that 1 or 2 will make into CC intact
Army of the heavens, my army waits in hell
To battle on the earth, for all the souls who fell
I see I've already been quoted.
1 TMC per every full 500pts of army is what I find good... Except that because of fluff reasons I do not field any TMCs in 500pt games. The Tyrant only gets fielded once the game hits 750-850pts.
Rather than the total numbers one should be paying attention to things such as viable brood sizes... 3x 20 Leapergaunts is going to be IMO much more effective than 2x 30 or 4x 15.
Although depending on the size of the game and the type of enemy, the 4x 15 might be entirely viable.
