Welcome to Librarium Online!
Yeah so today me and my brother were having an IG vs. DE 500 point battle.
He had lots of conscripts, some storm troopers in a chimera and a basilisk.
I on the other had one raider squad, one warrior squad of ten and an archon w/retinue.
First turn he gets 4 of my warriors right away.
Second turn I get his chimera and all but 3 stormtroopers.
Third turn HE EXPLODES MY RAIDER KILLING THE SQUAD!!!
In the end I killed 18 conscripts, the stormtroopers and the chimera, while I lost
everyone except 4 warriors, the archon and one warrior from the retinue.
So what do you guys suggest for tactics in small battles where a loss of one squad can be crucial (as DE have only 10 and bigger squads)? I mean I could've done alot more with some more warriors... Should one have more raider squads or less raider squads?
P.s. I'm sorry if this thread is stupid, I'm just pissed about the damn basilisk
Anyways help would be appreciated.
Not stupid at all, IG require a little different tactics than most players are used to.
1. Go with the Dracon. You're not losing anything needed against IG.
2. Spend the extra points you just got on Screaming Jets for your Raider Squad.
3. Put everything in Reserve. He has nothing to shoot at now! If anything moves forward to take objectives, they are easier to reach when your DE arrive.
4. Deep Strike the Raider Squad near the Basilisk when they show up. Hopefully you can knock it out of commission with the DL and Blaster. You might also want a Sybarite with Haywires to seal its fate if it lasts another turn.
Happy Mon-keigh hunting!
It should be on the right column of page 13. If it's not, you have the old codex. Check this page out for info about our codex versions.
Lexicanum - Codex: Dark Eldar
If you have the older version, the vehicle upgrades rules are on our summary. You will still need the points, and there are several other changes. The Wyches have much better rules in the new codex, for example.

The Problem I have with deepstrikeing raiders is, that they count as moving up to 12" and passangers are not allowed to disembark...
And since 5the Edition, the squad inside a raider can only shoot, if the raider did not move more than 6". So you only have your DL...
Good point. You'd still get the DL attack, but perhaps a small Reaver Squad would be more effective.
Heres what I suggest:
2 small raider squads with splinter cannons (blasters) w/ nightshields on raiders
1 ravager with 3 dissies and nightshields
Focus all heavy fire on any long range (36"<) weapons and once they are gone its just shoot and scoot.
You can also put the Raider behind a building or something to put it out of LOS. That way, the barrage has to scatter the full distance. Even if you can't do that, if the blast scatters enough to put the center off of the vehicle, it's half strength rounded down. So the IG player will have 2 chances to roll a 6 for a glancing.
The best thing to do before you asked the question would have been to go check out the army lists section where there are hundreds of lists to use for ideas and it really helps I can say from personal expirience. This is the first for your size xheck out the revision to the list about 5 posts down it is a solid list.
hopefully this should be of some use to you.
