With all the focus on Stompas, I'm wondering if theres a defined difference between stompas and gargants. In many of the pictures and fluff it describes gargants/stompas as massive, god-like machines and the pics shown look like they could easily be 5-10 times the size of the new GW stompas. Is a gargant like a huger version of a stompa? Are they the same and some are just larger? Perhaps GW just made the models smaller to be more feasible?
Gargants are much bigger than stompas, similar to how the Reaver is a 'Bigger version' of the Warhound. I am not specific on the usual sizes, but I believe that the GW plastic Stompa is actually larger than a Stompa should be, and is instead somewhere between the sizes of a Stompa and a Gargants usual size.

Like all things orky there is no defined or standardised version. The line between kan, dread, stompa and gargant is a rather vague continuum.
Going by the Epic game, where there are many models for all these various sizes of ork walker I would say that the new plastic 40K stompa is a 'supa-stompa'. This is a warhound-sized gargant, or a very big stompa, depending on how you choose to look at it. There have been several models and rulesets for this in the Epic game. I have a model of one from around 1990 somewhere in the loft. A stompa as defined in the Epic game would for 40K be a large walker of about the size and armour of a Leman Russ tank.
Ork stuff is as I said though very vague. The battlewagon is a good example. Over time it has varied from a light wheeled armoured carrier (the original plastic model), to a battle tank (assorted scratchbuilds), to the heavily-armoured halftrack of today. In 40K under the latest codex rules it has armour and possibly weapons comparable to a Leman Russ, while currently in the Epic game it is more like a Chimera in armour and armament.
Beautifully done graphic, funny too! I wonder what kinda powersource gargant's use?
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

The Dutch Legion
Am I the only one that thinks that if the Great Gargant is a Warlord Equivalent it should be more than 7 metres taller than a Warhound?
And the spaceship should be around ten times bigger, but thats getting into the realms of pointless arguing.
The name refers to facial hair, not playing style.Originally Posted by A news vendor's stand, London, June 1940
the structure points are measured in girth, not height. A great gargant in apocalypse has around the same stats as a warlord titan. It isn't as tall, but it is a whole lot fatter.
and that is only a gunship, so the size is about right.
