Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hello, I'm new to Dark Eldar and I had 2 questions:
1. Does the Goblet of Spite work against vehicles? Combined with haywire grenades, that seems vicious. Even if the vehicle moves 12in, you'd still hit on 3+, unless I'm misunderstanding something. I wouldn't use it with Wyches (they'd be hit too easily), but what about reaver bike squads built for anti-armor?
2. I don't hear much about the special characters, besides Asdrubael Vect and Lelith. What about Drazhar the master of blades, the Decapitator, or Urien Rakarth? How do these characters hold up in normal play?
1. the new errata killed the Goblet of Spite vs Vehicles so no.
2. the only special character to see regular play tends to be Lelith, beyond that its up to the individual but most aren't competitive.
Thanks for the heads up on the goblet.
I'm surprised I've never heard of the 'master of blades' until I started playing. Any reason he isn't seen as competitive? He seems vicious (although I see he would cost your unit 'fleet of foot', but then again, so would any Incubus).
"the master of Blades" can only be taken in a unit of incubi, which can only be taken with a dark eldar lord. So what you have is an expensive add on to a unit that is an expenisive add on to an expensive character. Units of incubi+dracon/archon are already sickeningly effective in h-t-h that drazghar is just overkill. Plus IMO incubi are just to slow without fleet.
Yeah, I see what you mean. Losing fleet is bad enough, but an expensive retinue for your Archon/Dracon usually means giving up a troop choice or a unit of Wyches. The loss of the troop choice makes it harder to claim objectives, and wyches are a far better retinue for an Archon/Dracon, all things considered.
Thanks for the help!
Okay, I just read the FAQ, and I have a new question. It says you can't charge through a Web Way Portal. Does that mean you can't assault after coming out of one? I thought that was half the point of a Web Way Portal. Or are they referring to something else?

You are still able to use your entire turn phases of move, shoot then assault (including charging) but it still has to be done in that order.
In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
Yes, what wicky says is correct, it is just badly worded in the codex. surprise surprise.
You move on to the table, then you may assault. It is to avoid the situation of the portal being surrounded so just asaulting the enemy to circumvent the blocking.
Dear Game Developer,Caps-Lock, its like cruise-control for AWESOMENESS!
Rock is cheese, Paper is just fine
WWP and other Dark Eldar how to
I've found Drazhar to be excellent. You only have to field him with 4 Warriors to constitute a legal retinue. He effectively takes the place of about 3.5 Incubi in terms of his effectiveness in CC. The bonus is that the retinue can lose more wounds without losing power weapon attacks (Drazhar will be the last guy to go usually), plus he gets that ability to switch places with the Lord.
Oh, and I forgot to mention how badass the model is.

Despite Drazhar being a CC beast and oh so much fun to play I must agree that he really isn't that great. Firstly I would much prefer the 5 incubi you would get replacing him and 4 warriors in a retinue as against MEQs on the charge you have 15 attacks of which an average of 10 will hit these will then probably cause 5 kills. Drazhar would probably hit 3(rounding up) times double that to 6 rolls to wound and cause 3 wounds which are unsavable the warriors would then attack and cause 4 hits 1or2 wounds that would probably be saved. I think the Incubi work better by this maths also you are in a way putting all your eggs in one basket with drazhar I prefer to spread the attacks.
The only use for drazhar is accompanying a second lord in larger games in an incubi retinue to add a large number of 3+ saves around the lord.
Urien Rakarth is pretty decent despite his points cost, he basically automatically wounds and if you use this with his destructor, which automatically hits flame template style, you only have to role the d6 AP for the destruction of pretty much a whole unit, not to mention he gets upgraded grotesques for the same price ofthe normal ones. He has a few downfalls, such as his initiative 4, down from 5, and he doesn't have scissorhands, which makes him weaker in HTH, also i dont think he can be mounted in a Raider but the rules on his grots retinue are unclear.
