Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hello Eldar community
I'm a WHFB who has never played a game of WH40K before (frankly the game never interested me). After about a year of admiring the Eldar range i have finally dicided that i'm going to begin to collect Eldar, and maybe even learn how to play WH40k.
In my admiring stages of Eldar i never really looked into there prices, comparing them to other races in WH40k is it just me or are they the most expensive army to collect? Other races regular transport tanks cost about $50 (Australian) while Eldar is $65. Storm Guardian cost $50 for 8 and that isn't even enough to man 1 squad, i'm not even going to talk about the repackaging of Guardians.
Anyhow i'll get away from the negatives and talk about the positives. I really like the Dire Avenger kit and the tanks, so my army will field 2 units of 10 Dire Avengers mounted in 2 Wave Serpents. My HQ will be a Farseer with 4 Warlock mounted in a Falcon and i intend on fielding 2 Wraithlords which im going to converting into cool poses. I may add on to this army with Howling Banshees mounted in a Falcon. I'm buying the Eldar Codex today so tonight i may post an 1500 points army list and in a few weeks i will have a WiP for the beginnings of my army.

Check it out!
Welcome to the Eldar. Looks like a solid list you're building. Post it up in the army section and I'm sure you'll get some good advice. I too picked Eldar cause I liked how they looked, though i hadn't noticed them being more costly than other armies. At least we aren't like guard or Orks that need tons and tons of models... I know my friend has spent a lot on his guard and ork armies.
If you're just starting you might want to look at the package deals. Things like the apocalypse boxes and battleforces.
You might get something you don't plan to use. But you never know what the future will bring.
I mean when I got my battleforce back in early 3rd edition it came with jetbikes. Who would use those pieces of overpriced junk? But I got them along with things I wanted for almost nothing more so I went with the battleforces.
Now I'm much happier for it since they cut the points cost of the things by ~30% and made them into troops instead of fast attack Now I'm finally assembling them.
Oh and for the supporting warlocks you could get the "seer council" box. It gives you five, which I would suggest using anyway. Six fit in a falcon. And seer councils are better with larger size as every model gains the advantages of an enhance or fortune, and it can give you a less pricey model you can lose first.
You've got a good starting list (wish my first lists were as good). I'd recommend sticking some Dark Reapers in there some where as there seem to be far to many 3+ armour saves. Glad to see your using Dire Avengers and not Guardians.
I did realise how expensive they were (too much metal) at least you haven't gone mad like me and ended up with 10,000 pts of them.
Good Luck, with your new army

Suffer not the works of the C'Tan
Liking the design is a good reason to start collecting an army. My reason was that I always go elves in any sort of RPG. That condescending attitude with weaponry/magic to match has always appealed to me.
Variety led me to buy some Necrons and then Black Templars, but the Eldar will always have the highest place in my heart.
If your in Australia, there is a website that has about 20% off everything, its called scrapdragon.com.au. That helps a bit with the expensive bit.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It's just that yours is stupid.
