Greetings, i hope this is the right forum.. wasnt sure if it was here or the modelling forum.
Biomorphs are plenty and as i'w seen not all is on sprues either.
How important are wysiwyg? if someone cant see an adrenal gland on my gaunts i cant use them?
right now it "scares" me some, as i am not good at all with green stuff or similar stuff.
And since i havnt realy played with my nidz yet (nor even put them together) i'm not even sure what biomorphs i want to use.
I mean some biomorphs is obligatory to put on, wings for example.. but what about the rest? the "smaller" ones?
Among friends or even casual games with strangers it can be "understood" that your models have a certain biomorph, as long as you make it clear before the battle begins and your opponent agrees. However, some tournaments can get pretty strict on WYSIWYG.
Although, the sprues SHOULD have the biomorphs. The adrenal glands look like little beetle things and the toxin sacs are, well, sacs. Examples of both are given in the hobby section of the codex.
Does that count for all biomorphs on all models?
extended carapace for example on the carnifexes?
I find biomorphs to be an important necessity for your tyranid army. It just "grinds my gears" when i see a naked genestealer being counted as having FHs, EC, TS, scuttlers and STs
I believe that biomorphs to nids are the equipment of the other armies. A space marine player would have a hard time getting away with his Assault on Black Reach captain counting as a Chapter master with artificer armor, a PF and a storm bolter
I think it is important that you have the big bios such as EC and adrenal glands, all the easy ones that come with the models to give your oppoent a visual cue that your monsters are powered up and more of a threat then they really are. It would be really hard to take terminators seriously if your oppoent was just using five space marines with no arms.
In clusion try to put on all the biomorphs you can, if not the main ones, you'll have a much better looking army and it will be more fair to your opponent
I think i wrote that in a bad whay when i see it now.
If i buy a carnifex model, will all the biomorphs he can use be in that box for me to put on him? or do i have to customize them my self with green stuff?
Of course i will put biomorphs on if i have them in the box, and since i dont know if its included (cant find it anywhere if it is or not.. ).
hope that clarifies what i wanted to know hehe
It should, unless it's missing sprues. The carnifexes in my Tyranid Assault Brood (the only way I've ever bought them) came with everything I need to make them any way I want (the only unit in that box aside from hormagaunts that did...)
every biomorph doesn't come in each box. The genestealers are missing a few. you don't get 8x of each head, but 1-2 of each head, which means you must green stuff the rest of the head on. also, you have to make scutterls, but that isn't too hard. I just cut a scything talon off an arm and glue it to the chest of the genestealer. In the Carnifex box, some biomorphs do not come on the spue. Reinforced Chitin, Bonded Exoskeleton, and some others i can't remember at the moment. Most boxes miss about 1-2 biomorphs. (and the Warriors boxes only come with one pair of rending claws, which infuriates many).

Most of the biomorphs can be found in the box itself, but for certain boxes as already said by a few, are missing stuff. Still, some things can be easily fixed with greenstuff, even if you aren't any good with it. For example, where are not Enhanced Sences heads for Tnids warriors, but you could easily fix this problem by for example:
- cut up a Flesh Hook, and glue it in top of its head. It looks like some kind of antennea.
- put a blob of green stuff on top of it's head, and that poke a few hole in it, which will represent 'eye's '.
But the most easiest way, is just to tell your opponent which unit has what, and that he agree's with it. Most of the times, people don't care, as long as you don't do it during the match in a "gotcha!" kind of way. That's not really appreciated at all.
Tyranids Win / Draw /Lost
Daemon Hunters Win / Draw / Lost
Enhanced senses is, by the way, real easy to make even without using any modeling or greenstuffing. Just paint the eyes a different color, thus singling them out from the others. Easy, quick and WYSIWYG.
Smart! some times stuff is just to easy to miss because they are so simple!
thanks again everyone, soon i can get started on my hive fleet
