No Trukks. Just plain boyz walkin' up da field, gettin' shot up.
I hate to see Orksies getting mowed down by da' ladz wiv' da' bigguns' so what I do is take trukks!
Any ov' da' ova' ladz agree wiv da Big Boss?
Red ones go fasta', so take advantage.
Tip of the week: Trukks are good.
Red ones goes faster - it's true :)Ork Freebooter Crusaders!3/0/1
Hmm, sure mounted orks work great but footsloggers aint useless. kustom force fields on a big mek are you friend and Will save your boyz loads and Even using other units like battlewagons, killakans, deff dreads and Mega nobz make bullet shields with a nice 4+ cover save if they try to shoot through them.
You can even still use grots for shields even tho you no longer grot shields which i thought was a great rule and Sad to see it go but even that small unit of 10 or 20 while cover your army pretty well in a gun fight.
So dont give up on footsloggers!.
The best thing of all is a mix between the two. have some trukks rush up the field and hit the enemy hard, while they're distracted the rest of the boyz run up and finish them off. It's worked fairly well for me so far.

Grots still make excellent shields, you know. Its just been hidden amongst the rule book, on how you draw line of sight.
I've recently become a fan of this thing called Dubstep. And you should too.

Da Moo Kowz is da drinkinest Orks of dem all!
I like to run my trukks with sluggas in them, and have the shootas walk up and shoot there way to the battle while the trukks get the close combat to there job fast. I dont like trukk crazy lists though at all. Nice mix works for me.

Black Templars-2000 Points
There are some good points here.
I have been using a lot of Trukk Boy squads and I find that they work well for getting some boyz into combat quickly. But the main disadvantage is they don't last long. If they manage to take out one squad of the enemy...they'll usually get shot up and be gone after they take them out.
That's why having a good number of 30 Boyz to march towards the enemy is really nice. Plus you can give them Grot cover save like others have mentioned...which reminds me..I need to get some Gretchin.
I've found it's best to go balls out one or the other (trukks or footsloggers) and always use a KFF big mek to cover them. Splitting them up eliminates the whole "massive charge" aspect that is the usual game winner of orks. They don't have much staying power and hit hardest the first round of combat, so trying to pull of a movie-esque wave-attack of orks usually doesn't work out too well. I'd suggest putting a KFF big mek in one of your trukks, as that would double the durability of your trukks with a 4+ cover save for less than half the cost of a trukkboy mob.

I take both. The problem with truks is the added kill points it represents. and trukks don't make you more durable, quite the opposite. your mobz become smaller, therefore easier to kill.
but you gotta have some mobility.

I put trukks, but they're kind of a one hit wonder. They'll slaughter a unit, only to get mowed down after they're done. (I hate the new assault rules!) And the trukk itself is just screams "KILL POINT!" In kill point missions it's a 2-1 ratio. Sure the trukk boyz will kill something, but your opponent will get still be ahead in KPs at the end, because the trukk and boyz are likely to be killed. It's a mobile suicide squad. So that's why I use either a) at least 4 or b) a hybrid list with 2-3 trukks and 2-3 large mobs.
My award winning Orky tale
You can't go 100% one way or the other, or you're automatically going to lose 1 in every 3 games.
I've never seen a pure 'trukk' list, with 5-6 trukks, win an annihilation game. It's just not possible (unless perhaps against guard, but they'll have a good chance of bringing the trukks down before you reach there).
I've also never seen a pure 'horde' list win the 'seize ground' mission with the single objective in the enemy deployment zone. In that case, there is no exception. Despite what some say, I'm convinced that it's just not possible, and that goes double in the 'dawn of war' mission.
Speed freaks lists don't necessarily need footsloggers, but they will need either troops in battlewagons, nob bikers, or scoring warbikers (thanks to wazzdakka). Trukks just aren't resilient enough to make it on their own, even when obscured. Ironically, they can also have trouble winning the 'capture and control' mission unless you include 1-2 units of grotts, to sit on objectives in your own side of the field.
I'm sorry, but it's not possible to consistently win the capture the single objective in the enemy deployment zone on foot. It just isn't. You start at the very least 24 inches away, and it'll more likely be 30-36in away from your troops. Even if the board was completely empty (and it won't be), you can only move 6in on foot, and then run 3-4 inches (on average) in the running phase. At the very earliest it'll take at least 3 turns to get there, just from moving, and if it's 30-36 inches away, it'll most likely be 4 turns. That might not sound impossible, but how many of those turns are you going to be running full out? Not only will terrain slow you down, but you're going to have to fight the enemy along the way. I've never seen it happen in real life, and I've never heard of it happening in real life. That's just the way it is.
The solution is to field at least a single troop choice in a vehicle of some kind, or on bikes. 2 would be better, but even one will be able to sneak around and claim that much needed single objective at the end of the game.
The only exception are really small games, around 500-1000 points, where wiping your opponent out is more of a possibility (but even so, I've never heard of it happening, and I know plenty of seasoned Ork players).
