Welcome to Librarium Online!
While searching around facebook, I came across a DE group with a tentative rumor regarding codex changes. It says they were found on the internet with no further info. Some food for thought I suppose.
Codex release in October 09 or maybe Jan 2010.
Planned are new Warriors, Raiders, Lords, Mandrakes and Scourges, the rest follows in 2010.
Talos and Grotesques removed from the Codex. Might get a replacement in form of slave units, of which one could be Hrud warriors.
Many DE units can outflank or have vehicles with a flyer-like rule.
Raiders around 35 points, armament unknown. They have a a form of night shield that works like a searchlight. (I guess the original poster got this wrong, though. Wouldn't Night Fighting rules make more sense?)
Mandrakes can infiltrate, get poisoned weapons and a champion upgrade.
Only two Lord variants, but there could be other HQ choices as well.
5-6 Special characters, one is some kind of soul collector.
Scourges get Skyleap (or Intercept, I am not sure about the German nomenclature of the Swooping Hawk powers) and Hit&Run, get only assault weapons and can got to ground after shooting.
No psychic powers but "arcane arts". Effect unclear.
Warriors stay at the current points cost and gain a CCW and assault grenades.
There will be only one heavy weapon that can be fired in 3 modes: 12" S9 AP1, 24" S8 AP3, 36" S7 AP3.
Splinter weapons have a max of 18" range and are poisoned.
Webway portal removed, but similar devices will be there that allow DE units to emerge in proximity.
Reavers cheaper and better. A special character allows all DE units that can take a Raider to replace it with jetbikes.
DE will not be Chaos Eldar, but more pirate-like.
There will be no Harlequins, but some kind of Assassin.
(WH40K) Dark Eldar - (12,000pts) Sisters of Battle - (5000pts) Dark Angels -(3500pts) (WHFB) Dark Elves - (10,000pts) Beastmen - (5000pts) Empire - (3000pts) Wood Elves - (1500pts)
I've heard rumors about this stuff before. A lot of it makes sense especially looking at the assets in apocolypse. Some of their squadrons can get flyer rules and there is a portal that can be fired like a cannon, but units can't assault after emerging. It would make a lot of sense if the codex followed the path taken in apoc.
october is ages away so that sucks that we have such a long wait.
Some of these rules i like but i dont like most of them, removing the talos sounds really stupid and especially getting rid of dark lance and disintegrator for a single heavy weapon. Distengrators are one of the best weapons we have available being able to shoot small blast templates to take out lots of troops XD
I am hoping that actaully isnt true because i dont like that too much at all.
Most of this came from warseer who got it from a German forum site.
From what I gather most of these rumours are just that, the most reliable sources on warseer kind of shot these down as far as I remember.
However if taken as food for thought let the arguing commence!
Dear Game Developer,Caps-Lock, its like cruise-control for AWESOMENESS!
Rock is cheese, Paper is just fine
WWP and other Dark Eldar how to
Well, if this is true, then I can't wait. However October is really far away.
The one thing I hope they don't take away is the noob-unfriendly aspect of DE. It's is a difficult and unforgiving army to play, and suddenly through a change of codex, playing it is as easy as space marines or something.
No army will ever be as easy as smurfs, one thing I don't like about the new codex's in general is they are taking options away from players. I realize they are trying to streamline the game, but giving troops all the wargear to begin with (don't have to buy it) takes away the value of it. If everyone has grenades then WTF cover in assault? If everyone has CC weapons and rifles wtf? Should have to choose range or assault. I just think it makes everything vanilla.
On our codex....
Splinter weapons have a max of 18" range and are poisoned
- Nice! I see the tactical possibilites there, and definately not noob friendly. I assume assault 1.. but given the range assault 2 is likely.
Scourges get Skyleap (or Intercept, I am not sure about the German nomenclature of the Swooping Hawk powers) and Hit&Run, get only assault weapons and can got to ground after shooting
- I dont know what intercept is so dunno about that. Hit and run is a bit useless as we should be jumping away from assault anyway. Only assault weapons?!? The one boon for scourges in 5th was the relentless USR that let me jump and fire my DL.. guess they are going back on the shelf.
Mandrakes can infiltrate, get poisoned weapons and a champion upgrade
- I love mandrakes, well the fluff and now I can love them on the board too!
After taking a look that is post again, the splinter weapon seems like its going to be like the dire avenger's weapon.
Heard a few rumors last night and was wondering if anyone had heard them as well..
1. That they are waiting on our fluff... Apparently they want to change us back into space pirates and they are trying to get it to work... god I hope thats not true.. (bash head in frustration)
2. The reason for aformentioned fluff.. they are still going to put us in the new eldar codex.
If these were the real changes I wouldn't be too happy.
It would be sad to see the talos & grotesques go, as at least grotesques are really "fluffy" units for the haemonculi. The raider changes seem nice though.
What bugged me ALOT is the change in heavy weapons. They're gonna take our lances away???
I guess the 18" range for splinters is a bit more realistic but too bad its more limited now.
The webway removed? Makes no sense to me! I thought that even though its not that commonly used its still very imporant in DE fluff! The Webway is us!
Cheaper and better reavers is just all around good news.
I'm not sure what the change from "chaos eldar" to "more pirate-like" means, but I hope they don't change our fluff too much..
As for this stuff, I've seen these rumors before and they look mostly like bunk to me. Parts of it almost sound like someone who was not very familiar with DE decided to write up a list of stuff to mess with people.
