You're a genius
That's the worst idea ever
It does not bother me
I have seen these new trays for LOTR and was thinking i could buy a bunch of fantasy orks put them on round bases and use the trays to rank them for games of WFB it is that ok or would people hate me.
Not a bad idea, but it'll probably work best if you mark the movement trays, and perhaps set them up in a way that they have slots to hold the round bases in place. Keeping them in place is the only problem I can foresee.
Some WYSIWYG obsessed players might complain about the Ork's lack of a pistol, but these people are few and far between. I've used fantasy Orks as sluggas for a long time now, and have never had any problems.
"Any job worth doing, is worth doing with a powerklaw."
Having read some of the posts. yeah my plan was to try to have an army i can play in both systems. The new Lotr game format (warhammer jr) has these movemnet trays that have slots in them for the round bases because lotr models come with the round bases but the new format calls for them to be ranked up. Which is why i thought I could be clever and save some cash. My concern was the reaction from the gaming community.

It would be a little confusing since your Fantasy Orcs would have sluggas and/or shootas.
"They say the Darkness consumes you. They don't say what happens after It's done."
It also wouldn't be the smartest idea. The LOTR trays are (I think) 2x4 models, and you need 5 per Rank for bonuses.
acuatly they are 4 by 2 and sold in packs of 3. so if you carful cut one on them in half length wise you can glue the 2.5 into a tray that will hold twenty orks .
Make your own trays out of cardboard. Cut circular holes after measuring the correct size/place for them. Glue that peice of cardboard on a second peice so they don't drag on the floor. Viola- no waste of money on expensive plastic ones.
As far as the orks go, I'd have no problem with having sluggas represented by dual choppa boyz. Many of the other units can double easily, such as using boarboyz as bikers. I have a lot of fantasy-conveted orks and at least 15% of my slugga boyz have dual choppas instead of sluggas.
go 4 it
