Can you take 1 mob of 20 orks and split it between two trukks?
12 seems like an awfully small number per Mob to use six slots for six trukks.
Anybody have advice on how to use trukks in quantity?

As for not having enough in the Trukk, usually you will be able to reach the enemy and charge with the pretty decent numbers. Due to the protection of the Trukk they will usually arrive full strength, as opposed to footslogging which opens them for enemy firing lines.
Its more of a matter of personal choice, as 12 really is small compared to 30, but only luck will tell if more than 12 of the 30 will get to the charge.
On the contrary.. I've never had fewer than half of my forces arrive in combat whilst footslogging.. But if you want more boyz, you can split your forces between footslogging shoota boyz and trukk boyz, or split them between trukks and ballewagons, which can transport 20.
Edit: It is not so much a matter of luck as much as it is a matter of skill.. there are many ways to keep your footsloggers alive- KFF's, Grots, Killa Kans, all of which can be used to give your boyz cover.. as well as Trukk boyz, Kommandos, Bikers, and Deffkoptas to tie up your opponent's shooty elements while you're advancing.

I've recently become a fan of this thing called Dubstep. And you should too.

True, there are ways to screen them. As a former Nid player I can immediately see the value of screening stronger troops with throwaways. I think it's just a matter of opinion. There is a risk in both footslogging and Trukking it. In footslogging you can get shot up to bits, but a Trukk is vulnerable to exploding and veering off course.
I like Trukks, as I have footslogged for ears with Nids, and I face both Loyalist and Chaos Marine armies most regularly. Bolters just kill Boyz like no tommorow, but Trukks are much tougher to crack.
It's a matter of preference really, and with skill both are equally effective.
I gotta go w/ footsloging, at least the majority of my boyz. With the new cover rules you pretty much always get a 4+ cover save, and if you use some trukboyz/bikers/stormboyz to tie up your opponents really shooty stuff, the footslogers will make it in large numbers.

Footslogging boyz are nice, but they will be lucky to reach assault by turn 3, even later if the enemy has any mobility. Trukks are less survivable, but they will get into assault and do some damage. Include some Nobs and upgrade a unit to 'Ard Boyz and you'll see some very resilient Trukk mobs. Trukks are easy to blow apart, but if you bring enough, use their speed to obscure themselves, and get some good rolls on the Ramshackle table you'll do fine.
