Welcome to Librarium Online!
was just in a game and had a conflict.
12 shoota boyz in a truck. the truck moves 12" in the movement phase and isnt stunned or anything.
1. how many guys can fire if the truck moves 12"
2. can they fire at all
remember trucks are fast and open topped.
also if your firing through a unit of troops of any sort at a vehicle, does that vehicle get a cover save.
IE deffdread walking behind, a unit of 20 orks gets fired on. does the DD get a cover save.
please add references for all responses thanks in advance
Troops can only fire out if the vehicle moved at combat speed, at crusing speed they may not shoot. Shooting out of Transports section.
Vehicles must have 50%+ of their hull covered to gain a cover save.

==Me== is correct. Though, you can move the Trukk 12", disembark the 12 Shoota boyz and then have them fire. But if they stay in the transport they cannot fire at all if you move over 6".
Draw LoS to the DD, if 50% or more of it is blocked then you get cover, otehrwise you do not.
Monkey's Killer Kan WiP (Updated 4/29)
p 70 says that the vehicle may fire as if it were at combat speed. i thought that passengers can fire if the vehicle can fire.
The VEHICLE can fire when moving at cruising speed as if it were moving at combat speed, but that advantage is not conferred to any unit's riding inside the transport. For them, it's meaningless if the vehicle is designed to fight at that speed or not. Leaning out the windows and shooting at things isn't possible when moving at high speeds. All in all, it's fairly realistic.
Now, if they pile out they can shoot, but not if they stay inside. This is why I generally don't use shoota boyz in trukks. The speed is wasted on them, since their guns have fairly good range to begin with (for Orks).
