It looks like I am going to run another hive tyrant in my 1700 lists instead of a broodlord/genestealer combo. At the moment I run him with dual scything, toxin sacs and warp field in a unit of guards. I was going to convert it to flying and drop the guards, and with my next one either make it a shooter with the guards, or just use the set up I have now. Sometimes I have trouble getting it into combat, but I have always found the Hive to be a better combat than shooter.
Any suggestions would be welcome, I have never run two Tyrants, but i would really like to

Personally I live and die by the 121pt dakka-rant. Just toxin sacs, enhanced senses, and dual twin-linked devourers. Cheap, immensely effective: in most games, he should earn back double his points in enemy casualties....
If I was to use 2 tyrants, it would be a dakka-flyrant and walking CC tyrant w/guards. They're expensive but highly effective.
Tyrant - 2xDevourer, ES, Toxin Sacs, Warp Field, Wings
Tyrant - 2xTalons, AG(WS), AG(I), EC, TS, 2x guards
Move the Flyrant just out of assault range but within his shooting range and keep him there, retreating when enemy advances towards him.
Run you CC tyrant + guards.
Thanks for advice I will most likely run it this way, though unfortunatley its going to take some conversions because i used all my large devourers on my dakka fex lol...by any chance do you remember if the tyrant comes with 2 sets?
yeah ATM I run my scythed with 2 guards, and I find its an excellent way to control the middle while my stealers run up the flank, but unfortunately most people are smart enough not to get into combat with him lol, so he might see 2-3 rounds of combat in the game. My last tournament was played on 4X4s lol so I won in great fashion because it was so easy for me to get into combat with everything. So I think I will go with the Dakkarent on foot with 2 guards and then a flyrant with twin scything ect running up from cover to cover to pick his targets. I also got a dakka fex that i will be using for the first time and I will run him close to the dakkarent....try taking the middle against that lol.
Play tested it last night with extremely good results. Both games I played were seize ground, and when choosing terrain I put a piece of terrain right in the middle and an objective in there as well. I sat my dakkarent with his guards on the objective with gaunts and a dakkafex close by and nothing could come within striking distance Flyrant did not get into combat as much as I would have liked, but I was trying to keep him safe in cover because both armies i faced had a ton of shooting.
