Welcome to Librarium Online!
I see them eveytime when i open my nid codex and look at their potency in awesome i feel sad that ill probably never buy enough of them to make a decent brood. In our codex they show you the contents of our battleforce but also a fast attack force with a broodlord, stealers, hormagaunts and gargolyes. I think it would awesome as well having a battleforce (which is awesome) have a fast attack battleforce box... or plastic gargolyes. Comments?
Truthfully that's the only reason I don't have a garg brood at this point. They are just cost prohibitive at the moment. I mean sure metal models are nice, but damn does it make them expensive. Here's hoping the big GW in the sky hears our call and brings us plastic gargs some time in the near future. I mean what do they have to lose? Like every 'Nid player I know wants them but is deterred by their cost. They could probably make up the money lost from switching to plastic in a month or two with all the people buying them, if they come at a reasonable price.
We already have plastic gargoyles: Just look in any gaunt box. Jumping (horma) base + fleshborer upper (terma) = gargoyle. Now just cut some insect-like wings out of plastic, and get some stiff wire to mount them on... voila, gargoyles.
Ok ok. So it's a good bit of work... still cheaper than metals though.
You know, I've never looked at Gargoyles and thought "Wow, these would be awesome!"
Incredibly expensive Gaunts that move fast to delivery their mighty... BS3 S4 fleshborers. Hm.
Plastic Gargoyles would be cool. I think we'll have to wait for a new codex before they come out and a new codex will be a while. I hope they do something fun with them and give them more options or revive the flamespurt weapon they had originally. The only winged Gaunts all being the same is boring and silly in fluff terms, there would be loads of varieties like with the other winged Tyranids. Try converting Hormagaunts into Gargoyles if you want them. I have seen people do it with plasticard wings and it works very well.
Gargoyles are going to be amazing in the new codex if it follows the pattern of the recent codices, namely everything in plastic and a points reduction. 8 point Gargoyles anyone?
