Welcome to Librarium Online!
I've been thinking about Prepping my next Ork Boyz batch to be tournament worthy in the areas of painting and modeling.
I basically have 90x AOBR Boyz and about 40 Boyz from the "Boyz Box"....most of these have been assembled, but there are still some without the arms.
So my big question is....How picky are people when it comes to the WYSIWYG rules? I probably have enough to make 1 squad of 20-30 Boyz that are fully equipped with Shootas or Big Shootas, but if I want to run 2 squads of 20x Boyz or anything more than 20ish...than I'll probably have to buy more boyz.
So do people really get upset if some of your Boyz in the "Shoota" Boy squad of "Choppas and SLuggas" I hope they wouldn't as long as it's just one or two...but I just thought I would check before I attempt to assemble the rest of them. (also, I may have some with 2 sluggas or 2 Choppas...
Also, I'm wondering about PK's. I only have One nob with a PK and 1 PK that I've obtained from Ebay. Usually I just tell people My Nob in a Boyz squad has a PK...but I'm thinking I should get more and Equip them on Each NOB that should have one...for the purposes of Tournament play.
In all honesty I would say it depends who you are playing. Some people couldn't care if you used a piece of card with "stompa" written on it to represent just that. Others would be anal about it.
In tournaments it would probably depend once again who/where but with no realy experience here I would say sum1 else will need to help you there.
Also, you should try sites like bitsandkits.co.uk to buy only the parts you need rather than entire boxes if you only need a few bits here/there. You might also want to magnetise the arms on your boyz so that you can swap between sluggas/shootas etc.
Generally you can get about 100 magnets for your boyz for only £5 roughly.
Thats only 10p/model extra for the potential to sweap weapons in /out. Very handy for say squad flamers which you wont always use etc.
PK'S can also be easily converted using the sword blades from boyz etc and a little plasticard or even greenstuff if you are so inclined. Failing that buying some isnt too big a deal.
In tournies, people will get very strict about the pks.
Slugga boyz with 2 sluggas or 2 choppas will be ok. Having orks like that is something every ork player I've ever met has done with at least a few models.
Slugga boyz in a shoota unit... That is probably not going to fly so well with the tourney crowd, also.
Just remember that even if most of the people in a tourney are ok with non-wysiwyg models, there's gonna be 1 jerk who's gonna screw you over. So, either wysiwyg or a very convincing "counts-as" for safety.
By the way, 40 boyz from boyz boxes should have given you 4 klaws (unless we're talking the old boxes). Additionally, someone is gonna tell you to convert a klaw from bits of sprue or something. This can work very well.
I'm trying to catalog every song with a reference to yetis or Sasquatch. Please help.
For a tournament, you need to have those Orkz properly assembled.
Personally, I'd tolerate filling up a Shoota squad with a few Slugga models as long as the quantity is neglectable. However, you can't do that at a tournament.
The only thing I'd do in a friendly game is to have Slugga squads count as Shoota squads, but in this case all my Slugga squads would count as Shoota squads and not just single units. This is just to prevent situations "Oh yes, those are Shoota Boyz... oh, wait, no, the Shoota Boyz are overthere." If you do that, you're very frustrating to play against.
