I used to play Nids before I switched to Daemonhunters/Which Hunters, and I played a warrior heavy army. You know, HQ's filled with warriors, elites filled with warriors, FA filled with warriors and troops filled with homagaunts. I know "zomg no tyrant/fex/stealers?!" but I liked my warriors It was a fun army to play because I was never out of synapse because most of my army were synapse creatures, but that was in 4th and I haven't played with my nids in quite some time. How would an army like this fair in 5th with troops being so very important. Should I not bother getting them out/putting them back together (they were bouncing around pretty good in my car for awhile) or would it be worth digging them up?
I'm relatively new to the game (3 battles), but I do my research. I like warriors. They are strong units, whether geared toward cc or ranged. I think an army based on them would do fairly well depending on the enemy. Vehicles could be a problem with the whole venom cannon can only cause glancing hits thing, but other than that, it might be worthwhile to use.
you should probably consider using gaunts to hold objectives. and since you hit vehicle rear armour in cc, i guess you wouldn't have that much of a problem w/ tanks, except agaisnt walkers, and of course Land Raiders.

I was thinking of doing an army like that at one point.
18 warriors for 2 hq slots
27 warriors for 3 fast attack
27 warriors for 3 eliete
and the rest with gaunts like you said. That would be a crazy amount of warriors...
So far I got 6 warriors with their arms magneted up, so buying 66 more warriors building, magneting, and painting them would be quite an undertaking. Not to mention the gaunt screen I would need would be huge as well. I think I only have about 40 gaunts I bet I need 2x 3x as many.
Yea it's an army from hell that's for sure, and expensive. For vehicles, I found the best thing to do is simple ignore them. When you're running that many warriors you can get away with it. I tended to use a ton of hormagaunts/spinegaunts when I played nids. Maybe I'll dust it off when I finish my DH army if it'd still be worth using =D
