Welcome to Librarium Online!
My local store is having a tournament soon and I'm in the process of converting a vindicator into a battlewagon. My question is that since the store is going to use Adepticon's faq that says that deffrollas cannot be used for ramming are they still worth the price? I haven't had a chance to really use a proxy battle wagon in casual games so I can't say one way or the other.
Even if you can't ram vehicles, its still a hell of a lot of fun running infantry over. Drive it at a unit of marines, watch one of them death or glory and then then see the marine player cry as loses 3 or more marines to a tank shock. (since they still get their save).
It's even more fun if you tank shock multi-wound models as you will usually insta-kill them.

If you can aim for a cluster of enemies, bait them with a large assault, but make sure your Boyz are more than 12" away.. wait for the opponent to move in, then tank shock a whole cluster of them! With multiple battle wagons, you can potentially engage half their army in close combat, then tank shock the other half.. it does wonders!

They proably are still worth it. After all, you still get to squish foot troops. (Even more so if they DoG you, as the hits are still counted regardless of whether or not they blow up your BW or not) And it still allows you to re-roll difficult terrain tests.
Another thing to remember too, is that while the Deffrolla might end up eventually not being able to be used in ramming. Your BW is still A14 on the front, and its still a tank. In that regard, you don't always need the Deffrolla depending on what your ramming really.

Oh! I forgot to mention.
If you put a KFF Mek in one of your Battle Wagons, you'll give it, and all other Wagons within 6", a 4+ cover save! You can also put a minimal mob of Burna Boyz inside to add a few flame templates to the mix. Sit back and enjoy the carnage.
My opinion is that the Deff Rolla is not worth the points unless you can use its hits when ramming vehicles. Yes its fun, but d6 S10 hits on Marines is not worth the points in my opinion. If you have the points to spare, then yes I'd go for it, but generally those points can be betetr spent elsewhere.

Even if we take it that you can't use deffrollas on vehicles, I feel they're more than worth it, because if I don't want to get stuck on terrain. If you consider it as a 'free ram' as well, it only costs 15 more points after that, so why not? I've squished plenty of demon princes with the rollas. ^_^

This sounds like a good idea, Bossgore, but how exactly would you pull that off? It seems like you would have to get your enemy between you and your Boyz, but NOT in an assault. So basically they would be moving towards your boyz, but they would have to be just short of assaulting them OR your Boyz could be annihiliated during your opponnents turn, leaving them out there like sitting ducks.
In response to the OP, I would definitely try it out and see how it works for you. I've had mixed results because there are always times when you wont get to use it because your BW gets blown up or immobilized...or perhaps the enemy just stays out of range. But when you do get to use it, the results can be devastating. You can actually make squad take 2 leadership tests due to losing 25% causalties during the MOVEMENT phase!
I think it's usually worth it, especially since you can always use it to reroll Dangerous Terrain tests.
