Before you ask, no, I cannot and will not link it. However, if you are fancy with the internet, it should not be hard to find. I was just wondering if anyone else has read it and has any opinions. As a hardcore Nid player, some of the changes are awesome, like the new extended carapace, and some are awful, like the genestealer switch to elites. Remember, this is a leak, it may or may not be real. Assuming it is, what are everyone's thoughts? And if you assume it's not, any ideas you like?
*EDIT* Fixed some silly typos.

you might as well lock this thread as it has already been stated on Warseer that the leaked codex was a fake.
May the "Nurgley Goodness" protect you!
I do like some of the changes maybe GW should take some pointers from this fake. But for me it is hard to really see a point for point change you really need to see how the army does as a whole.
It seems to me that they want people to play swarm lists again.
My problem with swarm lists is:
the cost to buy
the time to paint/assemble/mod
its difficult to transport
our big guys just look plain cooler
templates eat us alive
our movment phase just sucks.
Swarm lists are fun to play AGAINST but not to play imo. Your opponent will have a good ole time taking off packs of our models at a time.
In a new list i would like to see better CC around the board. Our little guys suck when they make it to CC so why bother even shooting them, and our big guys do much more damage in shooting+CC then CC alone and shooting is cheaper points wise most of the time.
It's fake. It happens to have frequent misspellings and be written in American english.

Okey, to correct everything, this thread was not meant to discuss it it's a fake or not. It's to discuss about this (fake) codex, and give comment on it.
I like the idea of the fixed cost for certain upgrades, to create an emphasis on bigger squads. Although the point might be off, I don't know, but I do like the concept
I also like the infiltrating genestealers, but dislike the change to elites. That codex would leave us with gaunts and hormies as the only squads able to cap. It would also mean it would limit the amount of warriors broods you could take...
I think the fleshbohrer is a bit over done. I mean, come on: 18" str 4 AP 4 gun for gaunts for 6 points does seem a bit too powerful That would mean we could pretty much eat eldar and certain Tau armies with those guys
I like the idea of spine fists being 2 pistols. Mix this with the brood morph that gives Furious Charge, and it would be pretty nice. Though I think it would make hormies a bit not useful...
I like the cost reduction on the Lictor, but with stealers being elite, and the need for Tnid Warriors, it would still mean I would never take one...
I don't like the Bonesword. I like it as is.
I also like the idea to be able to give Nid units the Poison ability
Tyranids Win / Draw /Lost
Daemon Hunters Win / Draw / Lost
Personally, given the fluff on lictors, I think they should be an HQ choice that doesn't count towards the max number of HQs (2). It's not like it's part of the main force, but instead it is already there drawing the force to IT.
Genestelers I think should be elite seeing as they are the only troop that has rending AND they get it for free. Not to mention they also have 2 attacks and can get another with ST whereas hormies only have 1 standard. They are a really strong troop choice, but a good Elite choice. Oh did I mention the WS6?
As for the other Troops:
Hormies I think would do well to have a base str of 4 instead of 3 or be given 2 base attacks (3 cause of the ST). Both seems a bit strong because they would be made to have 3 WS5/S5 attacks for a measly 14 points a model, but at the same time they are made of paper, so I guess both would make them good.
Gaunts I think are fine as they are because they are dirt cheap. 5 points for a spine gaunt and 6 for a termagaunt isn't bad. Both can be made without number and still be under 10 points a model.
Rippers.. I think they should cost less, be given fleet, and have a higher initiative. I always imagine these things just swarming like maniacs across the battlefield and then jumping onto the enemy and just eating them. Instead they have no fleet and are I2.. so they casually skip to thier foes and get stepped on before they can open thier mouths. If they had I4 and fleet they'd be more dangerous, really dangerous I'd say, but balanced because they don't count for anything and can get templated like there's no tomorrow. all in all: Cost = 8, Fleet, I4 would make them better.
Since the codex has been officially debunked I think it's ok to post a link to the only place I've been able to find it. Feel free to correct this post if I've misinterpreted something oh great mods in the sky. DakkaDakka - Warhammer 40K Forums - Tyranid playtest codex - Page 3
Overall I'm rather leery of this codex. I see the idea behind upgrading the squad as a whole but the points costs are a little high for my taste. I'd like to try it out, but with some upgrades we're still paying the same price for gaunts as we are now. And with Toxin Sacs now not giving a strength upgrade, I'm a little leery of it in most cases, though poison is fun.
I also prefer our current version of EC, as a flat save upgrade seems better to me than ignoring some AP. The change to Genestealers I think I could do without. Sure another attack is nice, but at the cost of dropping their Ws/I? I'm not too sold on that with them also moving to elites.
Gaunts...Where to start? Hormies almost aren't worth it anymore with spinefists giving us another attack. Sure they have some options, but have a 12" charge, or shoot a 12" range poisoned weapon, and have about the same statline for melee...Think I'd go with the gun, but that's me.
Lost a fair amount of our options for our beloved Carnifex which is sad. Also a point hike for the HT and the loss of a weapon for wings is kind of annoying.
Overall I don't think the overall ideas are bad, but if this looked a whole lot like what our next codex was, I might shelve my Tyranids for a while, unless some of the point costs were more reasonable. Oh and hold a funeral for the Lictor. Because that sucker is even more worthless in this one than it is currently, with FT not extending 6".
I dont' think Stealers needed to be weakend any more than they were by the rending nerf. I say keep the WS and I up, and add the extra attack standard with the chance for scything talons: Would bring them up to par with Harlies for number of attacks but not initiative; Also they need to stay troops, and there are not only troops with rending (daemonettes), there are troops with power weapons (bloodletters), and they both have invulnerable saves.
I think if you up the price of a spine gaunt you can count them as having two pistols. Orks get 3 attacks and a pistol for the same price as a termagent, why can't we have 2 attacks and twin linked with lower toughness.
I do like the termagent shooting 18", but it needs to stay AP 5 or maybe 6. And the spike rifle shooting 24 would be great (but maybe give it strength +1 and heavy?). I hate having troops that sit on objectives out of range of the enemy because they can only shoot as far as most things can assault.
I don't think we should get a flamer, I mean I would like to have one, but it just seems to over done. If we had something that was like st 3, I would be ok with it. Maybe at S -1; so gaunts go at S 2, warriors can get upto 4, and Fexes/Tyrants get it at max of 5 (maybe max of six for Fex).
I like our stat bonus better than ability bonuses for upgrades (furious/poison).
FnP works for regeneration, but I like getting wounds back...I just don't think it should cost as much. Also if it were to go to FnP I think warriors and Tyrants should be able to take it too.
Definately like the lictor price drop, and agree with the post that maybe they shouldn't take an FoC slot, but that is because I like warriors and Fexes there...I think they should stay elites so that we have to make a tough choice (and the point reduction would make it tough).
I like Toughness 5 warriors, but think maybe that is what EC should do for them instead of increasing their save. Though it would work better if it were called bonded exoskeleton and just got rid of the EC choice, or made it a one or the other option.
I am not a fan of losing attacks for the Wings, but if it reduced their cost greatly I would be less against it. I think it makes sense, and wouldn't mind if wings counted as Scything talons (because with a tyrants strength they would be) and just limit the Dakka Flyrant, which probably needs it anyways.
Re-rolls on Devourers is a little too much, and probably does have to go. I don't mind it on little buggers, but it is sick to get 12 high strength shots that re-roll hits and wounds, but if you limited the flyer to just one devourer it might not be so bad.
Ravs shouldn't have 3 scything talons, that is lame...just leave them the same. But proabably drop them down some points...They are not as good as the chaos units that are the same price.
I like the conglmerate rule for rippers, but think it would be more fun to make them Init 3 (probably leave them at 2), and always allow them to strike (even if they are dead) so the idea is no matter how fast you are you get swarmed and hit, but unless you are really slow you will get to make your attacks on them.
