Biggest problem with it is that 5th edition uses the 'true line of sight' rules, thus making this Carnifex incredibly difficult to shoot (since the model itself will be very easy to hide behind other models). If it were with a friend and we were just fooling around, and we assumed the Carnifex LOS was X" high, then I wouldn't have a problem with it, but if someone tried to claim that it was out of LOS because the model's so close to the table.... then I wouldn't.
I plan to use a normal 'fex for LoS rules. Thanks for the comment LN.
I voted yes, but along the same conditions as Lost Nemesis said. I would suggest that for line of sight if someone was trying to shoot it that you keep another fex model handy to replace it with until LOS has been established.
Sure! The conversion is done well enough (I have a soft spot for good conversions), and as long as you either agree where the LOS would be, or swap out a normal Fex on the field when there is a dispute, I would have no problem at all. As long as it is a friendly game and you aren't trying to get any tactical advantage from it, go for it. As long as you get your opponent's OK.
I am with the other guys, and think that it deffinately should fly (be ok). It is modeled with WYSIWYG (except that I bet you don't actually give it regenerate do you?) and fits on the correct base size. If someone did have a problem with it just make sure you have an extra fex around if you are really concerned. I do really like it, and might have to make a fex to match as I have the bits, and don't have a boomfex yet, it will just get unfortunate when we can only take 3 in a list after a new codex comes out (years from now).
That "play test" leaked a few days ago was confirmed bogus, don't panic just yet
Personally i would allow it,if you say it is a carnifex before the game starts.
Good conversion work, you really should come down to are club.
Eradicating chav scum since 2005!
One thing I like about this fex is that you could just use spare parts and create them cheaply. A fex for the budget-minded. Though he does look like he's about to sink and drown. You know what? Maybe you can also make your tyrants this way. LOL.
