So, just finished a tough fight against some Chaos Space Marines. It was Annihilation, which always makes my heart sink to my feet because of the number of kill points wandering around the Tau forces... but that is actually my current question.
In the game, his Chaos Space Marine squad managed the following (in two turns): Plasma pistoled my Devilfish into a pretty smoking crater, charged and killed the drones that popped out, then, surviving the rapid fire pulse rifles, the Aspiring Champion and one lone marine charged and slaughtered the desperately fleeing Firewarriors.
So, question is, how many kill points?
A) 1 kill point, the Firewarriors, Devilfish, and Drones are all purchased as one squad.
B-)2 kill points, the Firewarriors+Devilfish are 1 KP, the Drones are a separate KP.
C) 3 kill points, with the Firewarriors, Devilfish, and Drone pair all being a KP.
He won the game 4 KP's to 3 KPs using option B above, but I was wondering if I actually lost even worse than that if it was supposed to be C. A doesn't seem likely to me.
As a side note, in a 750 pt game I killed 650points of Chaos Space Marines and only lost 328 points of Tau... with a full squad of Firewarriors, my HQ and Elite choice, and the Hammerhead all still alive... and still lost. Gotta work on that follow through.
I believe it's supposed to be C, with each counting as a unit.
The Drone situation sucks, they are not even a scoring unit and they are a two strong unit. I try never to disembark them unless absolutely needed.
Yeah it is a total farce. I really wish GW would release an FAQ but they are slower than a drunken squat with no legs. In difficult terrain.
