Welcome to Librarium Online!
So from what I have been reading, the Tau are a little under powered at the moment.
I guess the question is, what do you think GW is going to give us in our next codex to put us back on par with other armies?
I would think that GW might give us more potent AP weapons that we can attach on to our troops or cheaper markerlights.
If they made Pulse rifles AP 3 and made the weapon heavy 1 we would probably be more balanced?
I dont think it will jump from ap5 to ap3 it is a rifle though but that is represented by its longer range. I think markerlights may become assault 1 for pathfinders as they are a little under utilised.
The railhead will come with ion cannon and burst cannon default and you can upgrade the parts on par.
they will probably have to give kroot grenades. I mean the minis have them and they are designed for combat!
Any announcements on when the new codex will be released?
None, and none are expected until next year at the VERY earliest. We have one of the more recent codexes all told, our problem is that the new edition nulled a lot of out strengths. After IG, DE, and Nids, then MAYBE we'll get one. Wouldn't be surprised to see Eldar, Chaos Daemons, or Space Wolves get theirs before we get another one, either.
I fight for the Greater Good. Too bad for you it's MY Greater Good.
Snow Forces of T'olku W/L/D : 3-4-2... I like to think I'm learning, though.
Having the Marker Lights be an assault weapon for pathfinders would be absolutely wonderful. My pathfinders would be so much more effective if they could just move, even if only a D6 inches. Ooo...that sounds neet; if they are going to fire the markerlights, maybe they could move up to a D6 inches. It makes sense if think that they would have to move more carefully to hold the markerlight on target.
Maybe a new unit, one that is a little better as CC than the standard Fire Warrior and can have plasma pistols or something not as evil as the pulse rifle (for the sake of balance). I love the Kroot and all, but my IG friend is the bane of their existence. (ordinance makes me sad)
Also, every time I look at the Rail Rifle, I wonder why a pathfinder can carry one, but they can't figure out how to strap one onto a crisis suit. Maybe they did it because of some power supply issue, but that doesn't really make sense when you think about a pathfinder carrying one. Maybe it was a balance issue; having the crisis suits bounce around the field pinning down all the units in sight. However, I dream one day of having a Rail Rifle and a Missile Pod build option for the crisis suit.
It probably won't happen, but I also wish for a smaller, cheaper transport than the Devilfish. If I've only got six Pathfinders, why do I need that whole big old Fish for? Having a six man fast transport that comes wiith pathfinders instead of having to take a bigger transport would actually make me want to use it for the unit I bought it for. This would be really nice in combination with the "new" assault style Marker Lights. Instead of the Devilfish, they could call it something like the Angryminnow, to emphasize it's smaller size. I think it would be open topped though...oh well.
Having more options for guns on drones would be marvelous. Much like the Forge World drones, having a burst cannon or something would be wuite convinient. I could see Flamer Drones raining on more than a few parrades.
Wow, this turned into more of a wish list for Santa rather than what I set out to write...oh well.
My platform is RL, you'd be surprised at the quality of the graphics!
I don't think markerlights for pathfinders should be assault because it won't really fit with the fluff and realistically thinking how they work. I mean those evil Yanks uses actual laser targetters to guide in smart bombs which requires them to stay still and paint the targets for awhile so I imagine markerlights are similar. I think pathfinders will be better if they can have a +1 cover save ability like the marine scouts. It's only fair considering it's their role!!! I also think it shouldn't be compulsary for them to carry devilfishes.
Burst cannons on transports should become defensive weapons, it's more than fair considering all Imperial tanks may move shoot any weapons now!
Kroots should be able to use offensive, defensive or emp grenades, cause it's currently wasted on Firewarriors and pathfinders because no one uses them. Or Stealth suits should get access to emp grenades cause I would imagine it would fit the fluff of them doing hit and run attacks.
Kroot shapers and Krootox should be cheaper so people would actually use them!
Tau should also be able to use the ethereal's leadership as well. Cause right now, Imperial guards have better morale than Tau!!!!
Vespids need rending its fluffy and would make them more effective. Also the Kroot could use the hyper active nymune organ upgrade for X points per model. Bring in Forge World upgrades like the spine mounted marker light or SMS equiped crisis suits. and take the devilfish has to be taked for pathfinders I rather see them zomming around the feild in Tetra's.
Yeah crisis suits with SMS would be realy nice. Pathfinder are fine as they are, although the devilfish should be removed since its completly useless for them.
Maybe the pulsecarbines should be ap3? then more people would use them. Vespids need decent armour save and an increased BS othervise the are fine.
Kroots could use grenades, and perhaps assault 2 on kroot rifles? or rules for the small handguns carried by some kroots. And i think the knarloc and shaper HQ should be included in the codex, and give players the option of playing pure kroot without needing a separate codex.
I don't think they will ever put an all-kroot list included in the Tau codex. GW is not known for giving away freebies and 2-for-1 deals.
