So basically almost all the other subforums have tactica's for their armies and I have decided to create one for the necron forum. (which I am now currently working on)
The only problem is that there are a couple of units in the Necron army list that I dont use very often. Because of this, I dont feel that it is quite my place to start telling people what tactics to use them with when I hardly use them myself.
Anyways, the main point of this post is to ask any of the Necron players if they would like to help with the tactica. Ideas are especially needed on the following units.
Both the C'tan
So if you would like a part in the creation of this tactica just pm me. Also, feel free to tell me any tactics that you like to use with the other units.
(P.S. Feel free to comment on whether you like the idea of a necron tactica)
Also I forgot to mention that anyone who sends me information that is used in the tactica will, of course, get full credit for their part in it.
"I am the architect of fate!"
I would like to help you whith this. But i do not know how to PM :o (newb to all forums). I have tacs for wraiths and flayed ones but i never use HD's.
well all you have to do is click on my screen name to see my profile, then on my profile there is a link you can click that says, "Send this member a private message."
Also dont forget that i am accepting any tactics that you use for any of the other units as well. I just needed help with those units the most.
"I am the architect of fate!"
Tell me if that worked because I sent it but I cant find it anywhere now..
Hey, I actually began preliminary work on creating a Necron Tactica of my own. Never actually got around to making a compilation of everything I thought should be in a Tactica, but I did outline some basics as to how I think one should be constructed. Check it out:
A Tactica should include:
Tricks of the Trade
Guidelines of Commanding
Knowing when and when not to Bring Out the Big Guns (Monolith/C'tan)
I will post regularly when I formulate details of each of these. Stay tuned kids.
thanks for info Tim  . But what is Army Formations?
Army formations are how u deploy your army.
tactica necrons shoot till they get closse then vod to the other side of the board and shoot more and yes i do use necrons
I think a great bumper sticker would be as follows:
Proud parent of a child whose self-confidence is good enough that he doesn't need me advertising his minor scholastic achievements on my carclick me
Army Formations - Overall deployment of the army
Force Designs - Individual squad deployments
We can begin by listing a few of our favorite Tactical Tricks
Given the new rules, I now find more value in exchanging 10 Immortals for around 15 Warriors and warping them around with a Lord w/Veil of Darkness. Reason being is that now they all can get 2 shots at 12" after they moved. Just gotta hope I don't scatter anywhere I don't want Let's hear more
To answer the original question regarding the 4 Units you don't use very often, check it out:
I find that Flayed Ones are best used against space marines OR in games where table quarters have to be captured
Against space marines, they can beat any regular space marine in hand to hand combat. Getting them there is in of itself another issue, but using the terrain to your advantage, you might be able too. Hell, they're even good to counter hth-tactical-squads. Finally, if you can afford a few pariahs, perhaps the minimum number, then the squad just became insanely powerful. I tend to move them around together acting as a sort of "Refused Flank" (sure as hell draws a lotta fire :o)
In games where one must capture table quarters, flayed ones are THE best unit the necrons have. Just keep them in reserve and deep strike them onto an empty or otherwise enemy-owned table quarter to dispute it.
I use a C'tan against armies that are HEAVILY hand to hand oriented, such as Space Wolves/13th Company and Tyranids. Against Nids, I take Ol' Nighty because of his etheric tempest ability. Against 13th Company, I find El Deceivo to be more effective given the new rules regarding Initiative-Based Wipe Out. If El Deceivo is able to take that test, then he pretty much will have eliminated the entire enemy squad due to his boosted Initiative.
I also just use one when I feel saucy, but never against Tau =( (Silly Railguns)
I *ALWAYS* take heavy destroyers; even though the glancing rule is nice, I still feel the need for that little extra firepower. I always take at least 4 Heavy Destroyers in 2 squads of 2, but I prefer to take 2 squads of 3
It is VERY important that they remain in at least 2 squads, regarding the new rules that effectively eliminate screening. Because that way if one squad goes down, then the enemy will still have to eliminate the second squad to completey destroy them. Otherwise they still get their WBB =D
Same idea with Wraiths. In one squad they get DESTROYED, so at the very least, have 2 squads of 2 and send 'em off. Whenever I decide to use that tactic (against IG or Tau, mostly; sometimes against Space Marines) I typically send them off with a Lord w/Res Orb, Phase Shifter, Destroyer Body, Warscythe). It's an expensive squad but OH SO POWERFUL when pulled off properly (ala using the terrain to your advantage to get where you need to be, then charging). Additionally, with the new rules, the Wraiths and the Lord can Turbo Boost, and even though they can't assault, they can move 24" and make their save become invulnerable (which doesn't help the Wraiths too much, but saves the Lord's ass while moving).
Wraiths can also just be used to draw fire as they are a scary sight, so I've found out.
Scarabs can be used for the same thing
Let's hear it, gentlemen.
Thanks for the info timy . I have always used the flayed ones basicly how you said. I'll have to try the DB lord whith the wraiths.
But I dont think I'll ever really use HD's I do have one in my current army, can't hit poo .
