If the(, in 5:th ed pretty half-useless rule) guass was removed we just might get a phaseout free army.
Pile in a sturdy and pointwise good anti tank. (Say destroyers get to roll 2 d6 when within 12" for penetration of vehicles.) So, this gets all nerfs, exept Sweeping advance.
I'm trying to think outside the box, but please tell me why this wouldn't work or help us. I know it might need a reconsideration pointwise...
The problem is, Gauss, PO and WBB are the three rules that make the Necron amry unique. If you remove two of them, then it's not really a Necron army anymore.
plus they could remove JUST phase out
The essence of the Necrons' anti-armor capability is that any single Necron Warrior can destroy even the mightiest tank with luck. Ergo, the Necrons' approach to tank killing isn't use a Lascannon equivalent, but to pour tons of fire on the target and bank on statistics.
That's what makes the Necrons the Necrons:
1. Killing even the basic Necron is incredibly difficult.
2. Necron weaponry can destroy anything.
3. Necrons have more access to Teleportation technology than anything and do not need to rely on transport vehicles, making a race of ancient machine-skeletons the fastest race in many regards.
If you take away any of these, you might as well just remove them from the game and start organizing Necrons v. Squats Apocalypse matches.
The crux of the issue is that Necrons are a 3rd ed. army in a 5th ed. world. Be patient and soon GW will release the next Necron codex and all will be well again. Everyone else will get back to complaining that Necrons are un-killable to the point of being unfair, like it used to be.
WHFB: Dwarfs || WH40k: Imperial Fists, Necrons || WM/H: Trollbloods || BFG: Necrons
Might as well turn them into a SM chapter if we start trading off our unique qualities.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
So... if I gave some daemons a matte paint-job, would they be "Matte Daemons?"
Necron Tactica: Flying Circus
Ok, you're totally right
Then, what should guass look like? As i see it, there are two ways.
1. Give them +1 on the damage chart.
2. Give them some kind if "melta" rule.
Instead of gauss causing glancing, make it a -1 modifier.
You really can't take our WBB or PO rules, it's what makes the necrons necrons, and would totaly destroy all the fluff behind them.
I honestly don't mind the gauss glancing rule, all that drives me nuts is the 5th edition sweeping advance. They need to either change the way it is (stupid rule, being that a squad of 5 plague marines could sweep a squad of 20 necron warriors), or give the necrons a better initiative (at least when sweeping advances are factored)
Yes, I did deep-strike your sister...
Necrons : W-8 D-3 L-7 (Sleeping in their TombFoam, waiting for a new codex)
Chaos Forces (CSM/CD): W-42 D-19 L-28
Apocalypse Games : W-4 D-0 L-1 (4 Titans, Brass Scorp, 3 Baneblades, 2 Bombers, 3 Fighters, and a Partrage in a Pear Tree)
Or you could give Necrons a minimum initiative, so they're harder to sweep.
