I love using Dire Avengers so I considered using their Phoneix Lord to make them even better.
However at 200+ points, he is extremely expensive. More than the Avatar or Eldrad. He must be one of the most expensive Eldar HQ choices and he doesn't seem all that great in his stats either.
Considering you only get 2 HQs in a 2000 point game, currently I use an Avatar and a Autarch or Farseer, does anyone use him in a 2000 point or under game? and how do you use him?
He can make a handy addition to a themed army, but I generally go with 1 HQ at 2000pts and get more Guardians.
When I field a Biel-Tan style force though he's one of my favourite of the Lords, in part due to being the only one with an invulnerable save meaning he can engage enemy characters without too much fear. That said he does tend to end up supporting Banshee's more than Avengers as with that combination the Banshee can engage the bodyguard while Asurman engages the character.
"ask not the Eldar a question, for he will give you three answers, all of which are true and terrifying to know"
the avatar now is really just a big meat sheild that everyone likes to fire at. i put him infront of my guardians and they are completly ignored. avatar will take alot of punishment too.
by the time your avatar is dead your guardians should be close enough to kill anythingaround them with the number of shots they put out
thats one strat
