im gonna adjust my army list a little bit so i have some extra pts. at first i was thinking ill just get a monolith but would it be worth makeing some more adjustments to get either c'tan?
they suck up a lot of points, and everything on the board will be trying to kill it. they can have worth, but every story ive heard involving the c'tan are along the lines of 'killed in 2 turns of combat with a single troop of orks', or 'mowed down by broadside and crisis suit fire in the first couple turns'.
its nice to have the pressure off of your warriors of course, but scarabs are a wonderful expendable unit (nice and cheap) that can probably do about as well if used properly. i just cant see a good use to the c'tan.
thanx i think ill go with the monolith then
orks are strength 3, c'tan are toughness 8 (or higher)... how could orks kill one?
good question. it was probably in combat with his warboss and nobz, who probably had the benefits of power klaws or 'uge choppas.
i cant remember the details as i really dont care, but it doesnt matter. the point is the c'tan sucks up a lot of points, and will be treated as the biggest target out there. not worth it.
unless you want to use it as a firemagnet, that is;
I can see a deceiver working very well in an 1850 point game; if I remember correctly, he's around 300 points, (I don't have the 'cron codex), so you'd still have enough froom for 6 squads of 12 necron warriors, and maybe a lord with a resurrection orb and a veil of darkness... I think that would be a very competitive army, and you could play all sorts of headgames with the deceiver's special power... plus, the army would only cost like 210 retail, and would be a snap to paint
72 necron warriors would of course be a nice thing to have (you would also have room to add in 9 scarabs if your goal was 1850), but it would probably end up being a boring play.
that and your opponent might complain about how badly you're owning them. i dont think anyone likes the idea of having to kill 72 necron warriors, let alone a lord, some scarabs, and then a nightbringer (actually, that would be a really good way to soak up the high strength instant death shots).
ya i suppose it would work nicely if you wanted to build an army along those lines.
well i kno someone that uses a nightbringer in his army and he says hes been pretty successful, but i think that the lith can help me in more ways. idk yet tho ill wait for some more oppinoins
eh, do you plan on building this all in one day? what do you have right this moment, and is it all painted up? if you dont, dont even bother worrying about it just yet. just get a core force built up and play some games. from there you can say 'im getting owned by such and such, i need some heavy support im going to get a 'lith', or 'i dont have enough fire power on the table, im going to get more warriors/immortals/destroyers/whatever'.
everyone has their opinion based on how they play, and what they often play against. you're going to have to feel it out for yourself.
hahah dont wry i dont plan on getting either a lith or c'tan for a while but yesterday was my b day so i got a necron battleforce, a necron lord, and alot more paints
and i finished painting them all today
oh and ya im definatley gonna play some games first i was just gettin a heads up, also ill prolly try out my friends to make sure
