First off.... new to the forums, played fantasy for a number of year and wanna get into 40k. Put simply, I love orks. I think the army is fantastic. however.....
So title pretty much sums it up. I've talked with a bunch of people, read a whole bunch of threads and it seems that Tankbustas are relatively redundant.
Now thats all good and fine, but what do people use to replace them? and why? What reliably goes up against armor 14 and wins. OR.... do we ignore it completely and just destroy the rest of their army? (If thats the case I'd love to know how you ignore one effectively...).

Well.. PK wielding Boss have never failed me, a normal nob w/PK will do too. Shooting high AV with orks really never worked for me. Boom wagons always scatter, or fail me by driving forward when you have a clear shot (but i do ove them =D) Lootas cant really take out high AV, but is really good at light vehicles. Zapps, never used since the old codex. They have random str, this makes them unreliable against AV14. The same for SAG. Random and unreliable (but fun as hell! I personally love this gun!) I have never tried the tankbustas. But if you like them, why dont you just have them in your army? I mean, if you can use them properly and have some nice tactics with them you use them. People use stuff because they think its fluffy and cool, even if the choise of unit is bad. Take Flash Gitz for example. One of the worst unit in the codex, but people do use them sometimes.
A Power Klaw on a bike does the job.

And yea ive seen a lot of lists that make the most of PKs and I intend to do the same. Would you find that to do the job vs a landraider or monolith tho? As I said in the OP Ive heard of some people just ignoring them... how viable is that, and to what degree? (say someone has two or three Landraiders because he is just that lame).
I guess I'm tryna see if anyone has any other reliable options OTHER than nobs and bosses with claws?
- Dont get me wrong I love PKs, but as you pointed out a lot of the other ork options just arent viable for one reason or another.
Rokkits and KMBs are only S8, so they can't reliably pop armor 14, Zzap Guns/SAG have too random a Strength, Deff Dreads and Kanz are too slow to catch a LR/Mono, Lootas are only S7.
Your best bet is a powerklaw or deff rolla. Lots of high S attacks should get through them.
You can ignore the Mono pretty successfully. Go after the Necrons and phase them out.
The Land Raider typically comes towards you, so smack it with a klaw if it gets close enough.
Hate to break it to you, ==You==, but I've recieved a reply from the GW rules-lawyers stating that Deff Rollas have no effect versus vehicles. You (might) know how adamantly I was in favor of Deff Rollas, but for now I must concede that they're inneffective unless an FAQ or Eratta says otherwise.
So far as our Anti-Armour is concerned..
Big Shootas can be effective versus AV 11 or 10. They're better used versus infantry, but at times I've found myself with no other targets to take priority (my main SM opponent runs a Rhino wall). If you've got infantry to target, don't waste the shots versus armour, but just be aware that the massed shots CAN actually do some damage.
Lootas are highly effective versus AV 12, 11 or 10, and can potentially damage AV 13. They have great range and can pump out so many shots.. you'll be hard pressed NOT to do at least some damage.
Kustom Mega Blastas are capable of damaging up to AV 13, but given their short range and single shot, I wouldn't rely upon them.
Rokkits are fantastic when Twin Linked (War Buggies and Deff Koptas) and can be used by Killa Kanz.. but I would limit their use to faster units given the short range.
PK's are your main source of armour squashing. Warbosses will be Str 10 while Nobz will be Str 9.. You're almost assured to drop anything besides a Land Raider or Monolith with a charge from a PK.. as close combat attacks resolve versus rear armour (ouch!! Bye bye Leman Russ!) Even still, PK's are your best bet for smashig those pesky rear AV 14 vehicles..
Deff Dreads and Killa Kanz are likewise more than capable of shredding apart armour, but as was mentioned they're significantly slower than PK's (as you can load up your PK bearing models in a transport.. walkers can only walk.. and sometimes run)
Ask the rules boyz a question 5 times and you'll get 5 different answers. I'll play it by RAW until they release a FAQ (ie never )
Every army has its strenghts and weaknesses. Orks has the deadly, but fragile creatures + deadly up close but do average at range (yes i know orks can shoot good, but not against high AV tanks..?) And the the ruleboyz decide, "...hmm lets make the Orks vs AV14 a little bit worse... yeaay! I say deffrolla wont work on vehicles!" Now they removed the only other option we had to deal with these suckers. So, bring those PK's up close and personal =D
Units of 3 warbikes skirting around the flank with a PK wielding nob or outflanking units of 1 deffkopta with a buzzsaw hitting any tank within 18" of a board edge is nasty.

Deff Koptas with Buzz Saws are only effective if used for a little extra *umph* versus infantry. They are only Strength 6.. so good luck tank hunting with them.
