If a TMC joins another unit (a Tyrant joins 10 genestealers for example) The tyrant can be targeted still i know but can i target the genestealers as an individual unit? or can he allocate shots against the stelaers on his Tyrant?
Necron will stand for eternity.Their race has survived aeons by trading their very souls for metal bodies. Now, they will live on through eternity and will vanquish all life from our universe. For they are Necron. Flesh is weak. The machine will rise!
no, I believe you must declare to target either the genestealers or the tyrant
I was wondering about using a unit of Tyrant Guard to protect a unit of HQ warriors, in the following way: 3 warriors, 1 with venom cannon, and 3 tyrant guard. Remove a warrior first, then since they're the majority absorb shots into the tyrant guard toughness. I think it would work like a mixed armor unit (I play Space Wolves also so I can see it working like mixing power / termie armor). My question is, is this tournament-legal, would it function as the Guards attaching themselves to an HQ like a tyrant, or would they be viewed as separate units and completely defeat the purpose?
--- Unfortunately, You can't do that... You'll notice two things:
1. Only TMCs are allowed to join other broods
2. Only TMCs can benefit from being protected by Guard
You'll find these as an entry in the TMC rules... And since Warriors aren't TMCs (even if they can be HQs), they can not benefit from the Guards in any way.
Besides, You seem to be mixing up HQs (a slot for leader units) with IC/TMC (a common "ability" for individual leader models). Being a HQ choice doesn't mean anything ability-wise... It's being an IC/TMC which gives the model the choice of joining other units.
