Welcome to Librarium Online!
As the new codex is quite a hot topic, I was wondering how much all of you are really waiting for it? I for one am "ok" with our current codex in the sense that I can play with it, but goddamn we deserve a new one!
So how badly are you waiting to get the new DE codex?
What would your reactions if the whole project was cancelled?
Would you write an angry letter? Burn a GW store? Kill a man?
Just thought this would be a fun little thread.
I'm looking forward to the new codex so that our rules get cleaned up and fixed, along with the points values of various things. Like Bob says, the new models are going to be a breath of fresh air, especially since most of it will likely be plastic where it currently is ugly metal. Another reason for me to be excited is the new stories and fluff. DE fluff has always been some of the best, there's a lot of room for expansion in terms of DE life, personality, and interaction with other races. The final reason is that I would like more players to enjoy and respect the Dark Eldar as an army choice. It's been fun being the unknown for all this time, but it's ultimately better for the game if we get more players involved in more races. Ours has been under-represented for far too long.
For all of these things I'm excited for, it really doesn't cause me problems in the present. I'm doing just fine with my old models, cryptic rules, limited (but quality) fluff, and being the only local DE player. That is why GW can take all the time they need to get it right where I'm concerned.

I'm not really sure. Probably be even more reticent than I normally am in a GW store. I want to see the new fluff most of all. Plastic models would be awesome, if only to drop prices a little. And some updated rules for now obsolete wargear wouldn't hurt either. Better rules for our best looking units (scourges and hellions in my opinion) would be cool. It's been a very long time (11 years?) coming, but I can wait another couple of years.
It may be because we've been waiting so long that the idea of a new codex still seems like a far off dream, so I'm perfectly content with what we have. I'm really pumped for these vaunted new models though. I'd love to see some more army variety.
What i'm worried about is the structure of the army. i REALLY hope they don't get rid of the wych cult army. I'm building one at the moment . . . . . . . . 70 wyches!!!!! ALL ON RAIDERS!!!!!!! i really hope they bring out plastic wyches. Another problem is that the points might be changed. I don't wanna see the Talos, wych, ravager, dark lance upgrade or the archon change in points . . . . . . I'm seriously nervous
I want to see the new models really bad more then anything. I kinda love the fun of our funky current codex. For the new codex I just don't want them to go the way of the CSM codex of watering down everything. While CSM codex made good for Tourny armies it made bad for fluff armies. I also love how Wyches are right now I really do not want them to just get furious charge and that is it.
Though if rumors are correct and Dark Eldar are going to be the poison weapon army then I am so into that from both fluff and play style.
PS: Hope the Talos does not go the way of Zoat

If i found out gw cancelled the new codex i would start committing slave raids!!!
Eradicating chav scum since 2005!
I just hope they don't cancel the model production. We are in serious need of new models for wyches, they need to be in plastic, and hew HQ models would be good. And plastic options for the ravager.
But the current codex is great, even though some equipment is redundant. The best thing they could do with the codex is make a armywide special rule (apart from fleet) such as consolidate into combats, more troops, and maybe give wyches a 4++ from shooting aswell as combat.
Here are my thoughts on changes and additions to the current Codex.
1). Raider Squads
Weapons: Splinter Rifle, or Splinter Pistol and Close Combat Weapon.
Equip the entire squad with Plasma Grenades at +1pts per model.
Up to one model may replace its Splinter weapon with a Shredder at +10pts or Blaster at +10pts.
Up to one model may replace its Splinter weapon with a Dark Lance or Splinter Cannon at +10pts.
Replace all the Splinter Rifles in the squad with Hellglaives at a cost of +1 pt per model
Grotesque WS4, BS0, S3, T3, W1, I4, A1, Ld6, Sv5+ [8 points]
Wargear: pair of claws, counting as two close combat weapons.
Transport: If the squad is accompanied by an Independent character it can have a Raider. Grotesques can only embark or disembark when accompanied by an Independent character.
Special Rules: Stupid, Stubborn, Fleet, Feel No Pain (using the USR from the main rule book, not the rule in the Dark Eldar codex), Heamonculus Drugs
Before deployment, but after terrain has been placed, throw 1D6 for each unit which have Heamonculus Drugs:
1. Fleet of Foot or +1I – you choose
2. +1S or +1 WS – you choose
6. Furious Assault
Extra to give all Hellions in the squad Haywire Grenades +4 pts each.
Extra to give all Hellions in the squad Plasma Grenades +1 pt per Hellion.
Reduce Hellion Succubus cost to +8 pts. The reason being that it does not add to the squad’s leadership, only gaining +1A and access to the Armoury.
Up to two Hellions may replace their Hellglaive with a Shredder at +10 pts, Blaster at +10 pts, or Poisoned Blades +5 pts.
Mandrake Sybarite WS4, BS4, S3, T3, W1, I5, A2, Ld8, Sv5+ [+6 points]
Wargear: Splinter pistol and close combat weapon
Special Rules: Fleet, Shadow-Skinned, Hidden Deployment.
New version of Hidden Deployment: During deployment each Mandrake unit can choose one of the following options:
- Hidden Deployment – as per current Codex
The Mandrake Sybarite may replace their close combat weapon for a Power Weapon +10 pts or Poisoned Blades +5pts. It may be equipped with a Trophy Rack for +5pts. Mandrake Sybarites may not choose any other wargear upgrades.
Options: all the Incubi in a retinue may be given Soul Seeker Ammunition at a cost of +2 pts per model.
Scourges can remove their Wings reducing their cost to 8 points per model.
Including the Sybarite, all the Scourges armed with Splinter Rifles or Splinter Pistols in a squad may be given Soul Seeker Ammunition at a cost of +3 pts per model.
Heamonculi may take Heamonculus Drugs as a Wargear upgrade, costing +6pts
They may also take the following weapons: Splinter Pistol, Agoniser, and Power Weapon.
