Welcome to Librarium Online!
So, whats the biggest, baddest thing you've beat in close combat?
I took a carnifax with a squad of pathfinders. He charged them and I won! Granted, it was down to 1 wound but still.
Last week I had my friend charge my honor guard with an ork bike squad and I beat him soundly with them. The ethereal did ok but hell, that honor guard got 4 6's on the roll to wound.
Kinda off of fw's but i guess it'll work.
I was playing a friendly game a few months back at my local games workshop, and i deep struck my gun drones( 6x) into cover and contested his objective. He had a master of the forge with conversion beamer nearby, and a tacical squad. He kept firing @ the rest of my army and let his HQ deal with me.
He rolled all hits and wounded 2.
I struck back 5 times hitting on 5's wounding on 5's.
I wounded twice.
he failed 2 saves with a 2+ save.
I won the game by contesting his objective.
What are the chances? lol
Not mine, but I watched a squad of 6 get assaulted by a Deep Striking Lictor, they killed it within that turn. They were pained blue, so everyone at the club now calls them the Tau Ultramarines
I fight for the Greater Good. Too bad for you it's MY Greater Good.
Snow Forces of T'olku W/L/D : 3-4-2... I like to think I'm learning, though.
i remember one time we were having a 6 way 500pt game and the whole point of it was to capture an objective in the middle of the map and bring it back to your "safe zone". half way through both marine players were poised to hack each other apart (and me as it would soon seem) over the objective. i ninja'd the objective with Fire warriors and almost was almost creamed when both of them assaulted me (good twenty marines). Don't remember quite how it went but i ended up winning the combat, bucthering a whole lot and consolidating into a devilfish.
pretty much it was like "OMG we survived! into the bleedin' devilfish, they'll never get us in there!".Poor devilfish, never saw the krak missile coming its way............. nor the assault marines that followed
"In the kingdom of the blind, the one eyed man is king"
"Pray to the emperor, but keep rowing to the shore!"
My FW unit was down to 2 strong and i charged a single termie. I lost 1 of my 2 and beat the termie.
My experiences are pretty much the oposite, my firewarriors have never beaten anything in cc so, i´m going to list their most embarasing defeats instread.
6 Stealthsuits shoots and charges 3 flamers killing none....(not FW but still silly)
The only cool FW thing i´ve ever seen was when i played against tau with my midnight sons in 4 ed. A squad of 6 FW killed my librarian (3 wounds 2+ save!) before he had a chance to strike.
Great idea for a topic! I love it.
I have never really won in CC yet, but I did have a lone Pathfinder hold out for 2 turns against 4 Necron Flayed Ones in the last local tournament I was in.
I had a 4 man Pathfinder unit that was assaulted by an outflanking 4 man Flayed One unit. Three of the PF's died right off the bat, but the fourth stayed with it for 2 more turns making 5 saves EACH turn for a total of 10 saves against those blasted Necrons. It was awesome. He died the following turn, but he fought bravely.
I once had a Fire Warrior unit who were charged by 8 Stealers. The FW's stayed in CC for three turns (unusual in itself). Amazing enough was the fact that the FW's killled 6 Stealers in 2 turns whilst losing 11 of their own. The second turn the last remaining FW passed the test and stayed in CC with the remaining two Stealers. Next turn he killed one Stealer and the last Stealer missed and the game ended, I painted his helmet blood red to signify his achievement.
The only time my Tau have ever won combat was when playing against my friends Catachans army. His Colonel and veteran command squad charged my lone Firewarrior Shas'Ui, he got no wounds on me, my Shas'Ui killed a model, the Catachans failed their morale test, and my 'Ui caught them in the sweeping advance. Good times had by all that night.
